CANON UPDATE

Viktor ✥ Free Cities ✥ Death
Player: Whit

New Canon Point: Season 2, Episode 6, The Message Hidden Within the Pattern, after his conversation with Singed.

Major Changes: After gratuitous Fucking Around, Viktor has finally Found Out, an attempt to save himself culminating in the accidental death of his assistant. Now faced with the true dangers of his technology, Viktor asks for its destruction and accepts his impending death, only to be forcibly merged with the Hexcore instead. This effectively turns him into a magictech cyborg/supercomputer, bestowed with greater awareness that manifests in a general detachment from humanity. Outside of his psychic plane, he is emotionally subdued and logical, though still in possession of his core values—he still believes, despite his own transgressions and guilt, that the purpose of scientific advancement (and Hextech in particular) is to mitigate human suffering. He attempts to heal a difficult case at great risk to himself, refuses to complete his own ascension if it means sacrificing another person, and extends his staunch pacifism to the rest of his commune, checking weapons at the gate, showing that his core convictions are still intact.

Viktor considers it his duty to use his current circumstances and new abilities to make good on his promise to help the Undercity, even if it is essentially making the best of a situation he’d rather not be in. Finally given the power to enact change, it is his moral imperative to do so, and perhaps he is glad to be able to directly help people and use his work to make a difference, unburdened by the politics and red tape that prevented this in his former life. This is his atonement, and if there is a higher power at work within him, perhaps shielding him from the implications of his powers or otherwise skewing his perspective, well. It’s not necessarily something to be concerned about—not when there is work to be done.

Given the imagined future experienced in Abraxas, Viktor will likely come out of his canon update more assured that the ascension of the Summoned is destined, and much less resistant to the idea. I’m interested in playing around with both this and both his new, ascended perspective—perhaps he thinks himself closer to finding a way out into the universe than he has ever been.

New Powers/Abilities: Thanks to his merger with the Hexcore, Viktor is given some degree of control over the “arcane” (the in-universe definition for ambient environmental magic) and manifests a lot of nebulous new powers. The show kind of under-explains them, so I have distilled things down to their most basic form and plan to make the requisite permissions posts for any use of these abilities (with the understanding that they will not work on NPCs). Since the Hexcore is, technically, not physically present/part of Viktor’s body, please feel free to nerf/adjust/nix as needed (read: I promise he will not build a hivemind cult). If it's possible to tie the nature of his abilities to the Singularity, instead, I think that makes the most sense, but I am happy to defer to the mod team on how to best implement this!
✥ Healing/augmentation: Viktor's primary ability is healing--he is shown to cure addicts, remove disfigurements, and resolve disabilities. This, believe it or not, functions not unlike the augmentation power he has from the Singularity in that it requires raw materials (metal) with augmentation localized to the afflicted areas. If it’s possible to take a version of this as a level up to his current ability, that’s the angle I’d like to play!

In addition, Viktor gains a metal connection to anyone he heals (hivemind-style), can possess his followers, and it is heavily implied that he is unconsciously scrubbing away undesirable personality traits in addition to physical ailments. Given the physical absence of the Hexcore and the fact that it would be generally not practical to implement in-game, I won’t be implementing this particular aspect of his abilities, but wanted to mention it for posterity.

✥ Insight/psychic plane: Viktor can access the memories and minds of those he touches, whether he’s healed them or not. Part of this enhanced perception includes access to a kind of astral realm, where his perception of the world is made more abstract. It is unclear at this canon point whether he always perceives things through the lens of the arcane (something that is certainly true by the end of the season), or if it's something he can turn "on and off", but he does receive flashes of other characters' pasts without entering it consciously. Anyway here is a scene where he runs around in somebody’s brain to give you an idea of how it works (don’t mind the Hexcore and/or Viktor’s guilt made manifest hanging out with him, everything is fine and not weird).

Additional: Viktor will obviously not be carrying over the major physical change of, you know, becoming a Hextech cyborg, but if it is possible for him to maybe have some Hexcore-patterned scarring as a reminder I think that could be. fun. Also maybe an eye color change. Also for fun.

Casssian Andor ✥ Thorne ✥ The Tower
Player: Terra

New Canon Point: Post-Rogue One, aka post dusting, blowing up a planet and stealing the plans to the Death Star.

Major Changes: Between Andor S1 and Rogue One we see a drastic change in Cassian. The self-serving, somewhat stumbling, thief begins to believe in Luthen's blossoming rebellion. By the time Rogue One rolls around, we see he's become an integral part of the movement acting not only as a spy and assassin, but a leader amongst its ranks. In that time he became harder, more jaded and ready to do just about anything for the rebels because it was the only thing he had left in his life. He alludes to losing a lot which we can assume are those closest to him, but what he doesn't lose in the five years between Andor and Rogue One is his hope. Cassian's conviction and belief in the cause does not waver, even to the point of sacrificing himself for a mission that he knows he probably won't, and ultimately doesn't, come back from.

Though he'll still be a tired, rather sad-eyed man, he'll be at peace with his choices at home which will open up some paths for him in regards to Abraxas' end game.

New Powers/Abilities: Aside from honing his espionage and killing skills, Cassian is still Just a Guy.

Additional: Cassian sustained a couple of injuries in his last mission (ie. getting shot and falling from a height high enough to bust up a leg pretty bad). Would it be possible to give him a little limp as a lingering injury from that?

Notes: Please help me help this man have a chance at living a normal(ish) life.
