1. There are communal baths and solo baths for the shy ones, they're all indoors but look like pools of varying sizes with water constantly flowing into them from slits in the wall.

2. Yes, they can barter for goods, or earn money by helping someone out with work. Nothing that can make you wealthy at this stage but they can buy a few things.
