INFLUENCE ◎

Influence
Influence represents how well your character is known, as well as how developed an opinion people have of them based on their actions in their neighbourhood, city, territory and even beyond, if they make big enough waves. This system is designed to help both you and the mods gauge how NPCs are likely to respond to your character.

Influence is defined by the role characters play in the world (and/or the role you're hoping to have them play as you develop their story.) It is not a level-up system, and should not be treated as one. In fact, you can apply to reduce your influence if you wish, should that be something that factors into your character's plans.

Events and plots will rely on characters with influence on both ends of the scale. Having a low influence is not necessarily negative, and can even be beneficial. Low influence characters might have a higher chance at succeeding in espionage while characters with higher influence would be too recognizable. Conversely, higher influence characters might be able to open doors based on their reputation that would otherwise be closed.
Understanding Influence
What Influence Measures
Influence measures how your character is perceived among the NPCs and local population, for good or ill. Characters who earn enough influence might have their name spread to nearby city, while those who keep a lower profile might only be known around their neighborhood.

Gaining influence with a territory can mean things like the locals having a positive opinion of your character, shopkeepers offering discounts, or the local authorities trusting them more. Negative influence can land your character in hot water! It is currently not possible to play a character with largely negative influence above Rank 5, as they'll be deemed dangerous enough to be detained indefinitely. (A neutral or mostly positive Rank 5 with a few negative incidents is fine.)

Influence does not measure your character's reputation among fellow player characters. It's unlikely the natives of Abraxas will hear of what goes on between the Summoned. It also doesn't indicate how "well" you've been playing the game. Characters can engage deeply with the game's plot without gaining any influence, and influence won't guarantee success or failure with plots and NPC interactions - though it can sway outcomes depending on circumstance.
How to Gain Influence
Anything characters do that would get noticed by natives such as: interacting with NPCs, helping (or hindering!) during events, taking a job, committing crime or causing problems will increase your character’s influence - though it may not be considered positive.

Influence is typically gained for actions that are relatively public and noticed by the Abraxan natives. Characters who operate in secret may not gain much influence due to the nature of their actions even if they may have impacted the setting quite a bit from the shadows. Characters are also unlikely to gain influence for actions taken out of sight of the NPCs. Anything that occurs in the Horizon will likely go unheard of. Actions that occur outside of the character's chosen territory can spread home to their neighborhood, but whether it does and to what degree will depend on the action.

As influence increases, gaining additional rank will require more noticeable actions. Continuing to take on the standard quests or duties they're already known for will serve to maintain their reputation rather than adding to it. For example, characters at rank 6 will need to go out of their way to attract attention - intentionally or otherwise - outside their local area or city in order to attain rank 7.
How to Reduce Influence
Reducing influence is as possible as gaining it! Much like reputation in the real world, characters can fade somewhat from people's memories by keeping a lower profile for an extended period. This is useful for characters who gained a reputation they didn't mean to.

This also allows players more flexibility. Players who ranked their character up, but would now prefer to participate in opportunities that are largely open to lower rank characters, can apply to reduce their influence.

Rank gained will also play a role in how much a character's influence can be reduced. Characters who have reached the higher end of the scale (Rank 6-10) may need to wait longer to reduce their influence - and likely won't ever go back down to anything lower than a 3-5, unless a very long time passes.
What Negative Influence Involves
If your character is the sort to cause problems or maybe just wants to watch the world burn, that'll be noticed, as well. The influence system can also measure how much a character is disliked within their territory. Rocking the boat too much can lead to your character being imprisoned or worse.

Not to worry, though. While negative Influence will make an affected territory disinclined or even hostile towards your character, opposing territories are likely to take a different view. For example, causing trouble in Thorne is likely to get a seal of approval from the Free Cities, and a character with negative influence there may find they have positive influence in their new residence, if they are able to relocate.

Further, influence as a whole can include a combination of positive and negative actions - and may tip towards one end or the other as the game progresses. Players should keep track of their character's reasons for having the reputation they do.

Mods will also keep track of any negative attention characters gain, whether officially submitted or not. While we will not be formally recording if a character's influence is negative or positive on the tracker, keep in mind it is noted and will be applied accordingly where circumstances call for it.
What Each Influence Rank Means
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Level 0: Everyone starts at this level. While the officials involved with bringing you into the world might recognize you, the average citizen on the street has no idea who you are. You keep your head down and your nose clean. In exchange, you can exist in this world unnoticed and unbothered.
★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Level 1: Very easily achieved, even by accident! You're not from around here, and people can tell. Local authorities would've "seen you around," even if they don’t know anything about you. They'll probably give you a few minutes of time if asked. Expect curious looks from citizens who work or live close to where you were Summoned in, but not much reaction the farther out you go. You can still go about your life freely, with a blank slate.
★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Level 2: You've started putting yourself out there and making a little noise! Local authorities are looking at you a bit more closely and, if you've made a good impression, might be more inclined to meet with you and listen to what you have to say. Citizens in your neighborhood may know you as "the guy who did that thing." One or two locals might have enough familiarity with you to put in a good word if asked, such as recommending you to their neighbor as a reliable handyman or a baker of excellent cookies.
★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Level 3: Maybe you've been helping out the folks who brought you here. Maybe you've just been out in public and meeting as many locals as you can. Maybe you’re that weird hobo that people have started pointing out to each other on the street. Whatever you've done, more people are starting to notice you. Your local authorities not only know your face, they have a sense of what sort of person you are and what you do around the city. If they like what they see, they may start reaching out to you now and again. If they don't, you might find yourself given the occasional warning. At this level, you can apply for citizenship where you live (but you don't have to).
★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆
Level 4: You're really starting to make a name for yourself, for good or ill! The local authorities call you by your first name, and maybe even respect your opinion and what you have to say. Whether or not they agree, they're at least inclined to give actual consideration to your point of view. If you've been causing trouble, you may find yourself on the wrong side of the law. In either case, stories of whatever you’ve done to make you well known may start floating around your local haunts. Among the local citizens, your reputation's enough that folks might recommend your services or expertise to each other on their own (or warn one another about you, if you've been behaving poorly).
★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆
Level 5: You're pretty well known in your immediate area! You have a local reputation, and even if it doesn't extend across an entire kingdom, being known by your whole city neighborhood or small town is still pretty neat... unless you've achieved infamy. Individuals behaving badly this obviously and consistently will almost certainly find themselves imprisoned or worse. At this level, local citizens sometimes chat about you unprompted, and might vaguely recognize your name.
★★★★★★☆☆☆☆
Level 6: When you go out, you get noticed! You've probably done enough daring deeds and heroics for shopkeepers to be willing to offer discounts and special little perks. Strangers might buy you drinks. Your local authorities trust your opinion and likely expect your help when it's needed. There might even be some gossip about you around the neighborhood.
★★★★★★★☆☆☆
Level 7: You're a local celebrity at this point! Expect to be recognized as "that guy" when you go about your day. People know your face and name, and might stop on the street to point you out. Even folks in other cities or the far end of your territory have an idea of who you are and what you’ve done...though it may not be entirely accurate the further away you get. Chances are high you'll be granted a meeting if you reach out to officials - or they'll even reach out to you first.
★★★★★★★★☆☆
Level 8: Not only are you a local celebrity, stories and rumors about you are reaching beyond your territory. The world is starting to watch! And it’s well known that you have an "in" with local authorities. They value your opinion and aid, and you may be entrusted with important secrets and positions of leadership. You might even earn a title or public commendation.
★★★★★★★★★☆
Level 9: You’re practically a household name by now across the territory! You've definitely earned yourself a title. You're recognized and respected across your territory. People are writing songs about you and the local authorities rely on you. It's not all peaches and cream, though. Citizens of opposing territories now recognize you as an enemy, and free travel throughout enemy terrain is much more difficult when your face is so well-known.
★★★★★★★★★★
Level 10: You now have such a notable reputation that you are second only to the most influential figures in the world in terms of notoriety. You may be followed, worshipped, revered, feared, and actively targeted by your enemies. At this level, you have the freedom and power to achieve almost any goal you set your mind to.
Applying for Influence
You can request an update to your character's influence level at any time. Your character’s Influence level will be adjusted and recorded in the Influence Roster accordingly. How you approach the form depends on whether you're requesting to increase or reduce your influence level.
For Influence Gains
While minor supplmentary events can be handwaved, we typically want to see in-game examples of your character performing the action you're using for influence. For high ranks in particular, the threads should be somewhat substantial. Threads don't need to play out the act itself. Events can be referenced within another thread instead. For example, rather than writing a thread of your character literally selling a flashy invention to some local NPCs, you can submit a thread of your character revealing their new invention to a friend or telling them about it.

Both quantity and the action itself is important. A single noticeable action can rank your character up as much as a handful of smaller actions. In some cases, we may make a decision to incorporate events not included that'll help boost you to a rank you're requesting if what you've submitted isn't enough. We'll let you know if that happens. In other cases, we might simply ask you to try again. Don't worry if so! There are no consequences to not reaching the rank up threshold, nor is it a reflection of your activity or participation - it just means you need more actions that suit the rank you're requesting.
For Influence Reductions
Because reducing influence is about inaction, you do not need to link thread proofs, though you can do so if your character has done anything that'd help them rank down, such as cutting their hair, taking on a new disguise, or even moving to a new city. Time passing without any incidents (positive or negative) will be weighed most heavily.

When applying to reduce influence, please note how much in-game time has gone by since your character's last noticeable act. This includes acts that you may not have submitted for influence directly, but which would likely be noticed by the general public.

Each character in the game starts at Rank 0. To request an increase or decrease, fill out the form below and reply to the comments section.

Character Name: Jonathan Crane
Faction: Free Cities
Requested Rank: 4 or 5
Reasons for Request:
1. Crane shared information about the Fae with the Free Cities - mentioned for rank 3 - but also posted to learn who holds positive and negative opinions. He is willing to inform authorities of the divide amongst the Summoned on this issue. He has been publically supportive of the government's approach.

2. Crane expanded into Libertas. He has been making waves since July. By taking on new clients, fishing for cases, comforting distressed locals and frequenting apothecaries, people became familiar with his name and face. Clients began recommending his services to others and saying he helped them.

3. Crane attended the welcoming committee and told Sam he has been introducing himself to the local community.

4. Crane assisted during the Rifts. He helped clean the barracks, bumped shoulders with soldiers and offered his time and medical expertise in the infirmary. He became a familiar presence, sitting beside wounded soldiers as he listened to them unbottle their feelings.

5. Crane continued practising in Libertas. Knowledge of his work spread through the community and he found himself earning respect and regard. He took part in debates and spread his ideas - not without challenge but at least making people aware. He has earned himself a local reputation.

Character Name: Dean Winchester
Faction: Free Cities
Requested Rank: 3 - going down a rank! This is to hopefully wipe out his grand theft auto bad boy heat star he earned through his Mark-related shenanigans.
Reasons for Request: Ya boi's been on his best behavior since he was cured of the Mark back in May. No more starting fights with randos, mostly keeping to his own house when not hunting for several weeks and only recently resurfacing. He apologized to Mag and spent some time helping with the upkeep of the inn, he worked with Sam Wilson to provide monster intel to the military, and he's been doing community service via completing faction quests.

Character Name: Julia Wicker
Faction: Solvunn
Requested Rank: 1
Reasons for Request: Julia helped fix broken objects with magic and mend clothes, and she offered to babysit kids in the commune because she likes them. She helped out with the apple picking and replanted several of the screaming weeds, visibly by the use of magic too.

Character Name: James T. Kirk
Faction: Free Cities
Requested Rank: Level 2
Reasons for Request:

• fought some of the beasts during the anomalies event; while he didn't manage to kill any of them, he still ended up helping/protecting some of the locals through his actions, particularly while fighting the hellhounds that popped up in the barracks. here

• replanted some corals along with Finn, after the anomalies closed and things settled down. here

• while not threaded out, he would have also assisted with clearing up and fixing stuff the barracks in the aftermath.

• ... probably worth mentioning he's enlisted in the military, in case that wasn't obvious. (Although I think I've mentioned that before...)

Character Name: Kell Maresh
Faction: Thorne
Requested Rank: 4
Reasons for Request: Kell has been visible and active around Thorne and Nott, with special attention given to Nott. He has has published (under the pseudonym Dangerquill Bloodwood) his first romance novel that is available in bookstores in Thorne and Nott. Appropriate links below:
Here, blessing fields in Nott with Wilhelm (quest)
Here killing Watcher in the Water, Nott lake
Here investigating weird creature on the city walls with Jon Snow
Here fighting goblins with Nikolai
Here talking with Wanda about publishing his book
Here with Wanda in Nether's library, after he published his book in Thorne, and found it in Nether's library
Kell and Istredd talking about his fight with Watcher in the Water and planning fixing Nott's main pier (it will happen later in the thread, we just haven't got to this point)

[personal profile] ushiri 2023-10-28 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Kyle
Faction: Thorne
Requested Rank: 7
Reasons for Request: (link to previous request here!)

-Attended Josselyn's execution and the gala at Hayle, where he danced very aggressively with the devil.

-Met with the king and got a fancy brooch to allow him passage through certain wards that were previously keeping him from freely traveling between cities within Thorne using his powers. He doesn't regularly flash his brooch around outside of the castle unless he's stopped by someone official on a delivery.

-Helped with blessing crops in Nott.

-He delivered some (admittedly bland) info about the Fey to Thorne authorities after the Feywilds trip.

-Was voted in as a representative with the first Thorne Conclave. He had previously spoken with some officers about Thorne Summoned being allowed to carry weapons in the wake of the kidnappings, and brought this proposal forward for the first Conclave motion.

-Warned the workers out in the Dukewood Lumber Mills about the rift location and got messed up by a Beast while investigating a tip/request from Sergeant Ward. When he was (mostly) recovered, he patrolled around the castle walls for sightings.

-Helped out with the damage in the Frostwurm Tunnels.

-Continues to regularly take deliveries when available, which has seen him frequently around Nott and Borrel for close to a year now - he was one of the few Summoned with access to Borrel before it was officially opened up via castle portal. He's known for being reliable, discreet and quick, and has generally kept up positive relationships with everyone he's done jobs for.

-Was very recently given limited access to Hayle to do deliveries and gained an acquaintance/contact there in the form of an arcana researcher. He keeps a low profile when possible, but it's possible he would be known as one of the Summoned when/if he has to identify himself to someone official over there.

-Represented Thorne as a delegate to the Nether, helped negotiate naval upgrades ...

Character Name: Finn
Faction: Free Cities
Requested Rank: two or three?
Reasons for Request:
  • During the anomalies event, Finn helped defend parts of Cadens, especially the barracks. He learned a small healing spell from Jesper to help treat the wounded and worked with Matt & Cal to evacuate and fortify the area.

  • Finn and James planted coral together in Andromeda Bay.

  • (not sure if these count considering the place but) While in the Nether, Finn gave away some of his wild game to locals, went on gathering hunts in all three locations, and helped babysit some dragons.

  • He also works for Cyprian Leyes, a blacksmith in Cadens. He's been at it for a few months now and has gotten pretty good. Likely met a lot of locals, some military, and maybe other blacksmiths in the area. Mentioned here.

Character Name: Hilda Goneril
Faction: Free Cities
Requested Rank: 5 or 6? I'm happy to leave it up to whatever the mod team thinks is best! Also I'm so sorry there's so much it's been so long since I last submitted.
Reasons for Request: Previous request here!

  • After the taken Summoned's return to Cadens, Hilda offered to help by assisting with the decorations for the feast held in Willow Memorial Park.

  • During the May quests, Hilda and Jayden answered the call of the Security of Agriculture by helping deliver water to some of the Free Cities farms in need. They also made a friend with the horse.

  • Over the course of May and June, Hilda made herself known by frequenting the Academy to see Dr. Rutherford after discovering a strange little mechanical lizard. Since then she and Altair (begrudgingly) have taken it upon themselves to try and get to the bottom of their mysterious son lizard.

  • Some time during the summer, Hilda took up an accidental apprenticeship with a local blacksmith turned metalsmith, Cyprian Leyes (mentioned here). Most of the jewelry and accessories she makes have been offered up at the Old Public Hall as props for various performances. She continues to be a part of the team made up of the Arts Restoration Committee working to run the day-to-day operations (she got her job in May!) of the Old Public Hall.

  • In August, hosted an informal family dinner alongside the Cadens (Un)Official Welcoming Committee! Also made a silly poster that was plastered all over Cadens and the barracks so new Summoned would know where to go.

  • During the Anomaly Event, Hilda got up to a number of things including getting roped into forging enchanted, more durable swords for Summoned and soldiers alike, leading the Thunderjaw away from Formahault and back into the rift with Alucard, offering her assistance with repairs to repair the quarantined city's walls, fighting a dragon before getting her ass kicked on the Red Path resulting in Claude rushing her to the hospital in Cadens (mentioned here).

  • In September during her recovery, Hilda and Alucard hosted a theatre camp of sorts for the orphans in Cadens at the Old Public Hall. This also doubled as a place for the visiting Grimoire to perform his tricks. Each participant not only received a curios, but also a goodie bag filled with other trinkets and sweets put together by the hosts. Hilda also helped put on some talent shows at the orphanages, providing costumes for the kids (mentioned here).

  • What started as a bet during Eifstide became a reality that Hilda made good on. Namely she made Alucard a very nice corset thanks to the power of teamwork with one of the Old Public Hall's seamstresses and a woman's determination to prove a man wrong. Alucard enjoyed the fruits of her labor during the celebrations where he name dropped her to the admiring Abraxians (much to her dismay).

  • In November, Hilda offered to pitch in with the Sarstina renovations by offering some interior design assistance. Also a project that her, Claude, Sylvain, and Sam Wilson had been working on over the course of October has finally come to fruition: the restoration of the Red Path. She and Sylvain had been drumming up support both in the form of donations and Abraxian locals to assist with the efforts. Locals will see her keeping their spirits up with encouragement, snacks and drinks while they work (mentioned here), handing out, "I can dig it!" buttons with a sapling holding a shovel, and maybe helping plant a few things. We'll see.

Character Name: Lord John Grey
Faction: Thorne
Requested Rank: Level 2! I realize this is a jump from 0 to 2 but I think it's probably more appropriate for him, given his length in game and the level description!
Reasons for Request:
- performed at the gala following Josselyn's last rites
- attended the Feywilds masquerade event and also assisted with mount handling
- distributed curios in Borrel on behalf of Solaris
- babysat dragons & collected supplies for a cure in the Nether

Character Name: Julia Wicker
Faction: Solvunn
Requested Rank: 2
Reasons for Request: Julia has been babysitting the local kids for months now and staying with the orchardists and their family. She started to visit Endrborrin's shrine in the second settlement and it was noticeable a few flowers bloomed that first month. This month the shrine is alive with blooming flowers at the base of it, surviving past natural weather. The Second Settlement may in particular have noticed the phenomenon. She has begun to make her own shrine and teach other Summoned in public how to use her native magic (and anyone else who is interested) so people would have witnessed her using unique spells. She's also been fixing objects and healing with her magic. (same TL.)

Character Name: Jill Warrick
Faction: Thorne
Requested Rank: 3-4, up to your modly discretion!
Reasons for Request:
Jill helped in the Nether, focusing on non-traditional aid but also venturing out looking for ingredients.
At Istredd's recommendation, Jill helped host the welcoming party for new Thorne arrivals -- including reaching out to local businesses for catering.
Jill also put in for representing Thorne on the Summoned Council, making sure to stress that she cares about Thorne's citizenry as well as the Summoned in her statement.
She and Clive also worked with Rhy to put on a play to help local children in need, and ended up working with a bunch of Summoned on it. It was doubtless a great success, and the children and teenagers who watched have begun to discover the concept of "fanfiction".
During the Dimming celebrations and the banquet after, she introduced herself to Lyle Vela, taking care to stress the work she's been doing to help Thorne's citizens.

And, given Jill's level of influence I'm not sure it counts but in case it does I wanted to note it: Clive will have proposed to her in public in Borrel during the Night of Many Moons.

  • Cassian took it upon himself to try and fulfill some of the wishes tied to the Winding of the Thread in Borrel (mentioned here)
  • He also made it to the island to help recover remains and purifying the terrain.
  • Had a strange streak of beginner's luck aboard the Arcanis. He may or may not have made a couple of friends (read: not friends) with a couple of sore losers (mentioned here).

Character Name: River Tam
Faction: Thorne
Requested Rank: 2
Reasons for Request:
  • River spends pretty much every day wandering the parts of Castle Thorne where she's allowed ( and probably trying to poke her head where she isn't ) to touch everything, people watch, and ask a million cryptic or confusing questions anytime someone spares her a moment. People might notice her as "that weird girl that's always barefoot and wandering around with her head in the clouds."
  • She also ran all over the kingdom during the wintertide event like a kid in a candy shop and gleefully accepted anything the natives offered for free, including riding the sleighs as many times as they would tolerate her for.
  • She's had two public outbursts that people might've noticed:
    • in the dining hall when her powers returned full swing after a week of blissful silence
    • on the island when her visions of the dead overwhelmed her, but she stubbornly refused to leave and begged the officials to at least let her help with the purification using Thorne's marbles

Character Name: Viktor
Faction: Free Cities
Requested Rank: 8
Reasons for Request: /deep breath (last request made 4/23)
✥ Following the successful return of the kidnapped Summoned, Viktor contributes an armillary sphere to the celebratory activities in Libertas (ooc submission). Alucard in particular is impressed and asks to have a similar model installed outside of the Old Public Hall in Cadens (to be continued).

✥ Wanting to expand Rio Enterprises, Jayce and Viktor arrange a meeting with Fallon Marsh in Aquila. They show off some new inventions tailored towards the more artisan-focused city and receive approval to set up a branch in town. As part of this, Viktor suggests that Jayce use his new position on the Summoned Conclave to lobby for a permanent portal to Aquila. The motion passes and Viktor spends the next communal beach trip setting up shop.

✥ At the Old Public Hall reopening, Viktor installs the promised second armillary sphere and participates in Science Day, showing off his workshop’s offerings. He also makes good on a promise to record Jaskier’s music, which he does at the concert that closes the festival. Having made these improvements to recording technology, Viktor shares his research with Portam Hall. He also shares the completed record with Jaskier and the two eventually work to record a full album. Additional links for sound recording research in this plot engagement here.

✥ Post-illness, Viktor returns to some older projects, including a braille translator for Matt and an irrigation system for Claude’s agricultural endeavors. They develop a small-scale model for use in Claude’s rooftop greenhouse, and recommends the system to Alucard for Arts Restoration Committee projects in Libertas. Viktor donates the braille reader to Portam Hall, and eventually volunteers his irrigation technology as part of Claude, Hilda, and Sylvain’s restoration of the Red Path.

✥ Following Jayce’s disappearance in June, Viktor hires part-timers to Rio Enterprises in earnest (help wanted sign and all), and designates Claude as manager of operations in Aquila in order to maintain his business there.

✥ Related to the above, Viktor takes a renewed interest in puzzling out the Summoning ritual, and increases his activity at the Grand Academy of Science in order to better utilize their resources (mostly this involves grading papers (+thread), harassing newcomers, and continuing to share his research with Portam Hall, making no secret of his new interest, especially with regards to the rifts (but that’s another bullet point). He also acts as a consult on Hilda and Altaïr’s lizard mystery (which has Academy ties of its own), and he’s eventually gifted one of the offspring.

✥ Viktor jumps into action when the rifts appear, approaching the government and the Academy to assist with their analysis efforts. He improves the accuracy of their energy-reading device, then asks for escorts so that he can collect the data himself. He shares his findings with Portam Hall. He also assists Cal and Steve in convincing the government to temporarily shutdown and evacuate the Farhill Mining Camp, but then abandons them both at Portam Hall when they try to object to all the child labor and have to wait in line too long. At the next Summoned Conclave meeting, however, he does provide consultation and support for Steve’s proposal of protections and wage laws for the minor miners.

✥ He helps to distribute curios at the hospital as part of September’s quest.

✥ Visiting the Nether, Viktor takes personal umbrage with the fact that the tampering of the factions has sickened the dragons, and he shares the entirety of his research with Anneth. He spends time in the alchemy labs engineering a cure, babysitting the hatchlings, and even venturing into the wilderness to collect materials.

✥ Meanwhile, Viktor’s latest project is taking shape. Inspired by Hilda’s unseen servant spell, they begin to work on a system that will bind the entity to a mechanical body. Hilda practices her magic while Viktor works on the design and implementation and builds the chassis. After testing and refinement, the two prepare to present at the upcoming Circus of the Sciences.

✥ Though Viktor does not actively partake in the physical labor required to renovate Mags’ Inn, he provides tools and rigging to facilitate the construction, and then helps decorate the holiday party, which unfortunately includes outfitting Hilda with a bedazzler.

✥ During the Festival of Enlightenment, Viktor hosts an open house and debuts his automaton with Hilda’s help at the Circus of the Sciences. Though he doesn’t win, he attracts some attention, and is not particularly subtle about his desire to refine the invention and eventually use it to assist both at the Academy and in the mines. The Festival also provides the ideal opportunity to host listening parties for Jaskier’s previously-recored album. Viktor borrows gramophones from the Academy and sets them up to host events in all three of the Free Cities and Nocwich.

✥ Most recently, Kyle approaches Viktor with a proposition: he wants to outfit his couriers with bicycles but Thorne isn’t necessarily interested in the project. Viktor agrees to design the bicycle and provide Kyle with blueprints and a prototype, to be further constructed and refined in Thorne. Since Kyle does not plan to obfuscate the source of the blueprints, it might become known in Thorne that Viktor--or at least a Free Cities inventor-- was the author of the plans.

Character Name: Wrench
Territory: Solvunn
Requested Rank: Level 4
Reasons for Request: Wrench assisted with recovery of bodies from the Pit, and then delivered memory tokens to families of the deceased. He also took the opportunity to introduce himself to Rowan March and offer his services providing his own processed pelts during winter. He recently had a very public sword lesson with Sandor, which will be happening periodically. Also since the last time I submitted for rank, he has been making frequent offerings to Cadaevos, and (generally established in the same thread) is the obstinate weirdo in the woods who refuses to get a permanent home and can often be seen engaging in all sorts of unnecessary survivalist activities.
