Post-Newcomer History
All events below occurred after the first Summoned arrived. Not all of these details are known to NPCs and locals. Many of these events were experienced by the Summoned alone.
Year 20,076
- June
- High Mage Ambrose attempts to summon individuals from other worlds for the first time in thousands of years. The spell is not perfected, and while the intentionally summoned individuals are welcomed, those with the misfortune to be unintentionally summoned are imprisoned beneath the castle grounds.
The welcomed newcomers participated in the annual Summer Festival where they had a chance to show off their magical abilities and speak with a representative from Nott, a city whose population holds generally unfavorable views of the Thornean royalty.
The imprisoned newcomers were taken to mine crystals from the dangerous and unstable burrows of the Frostwurm. While the expedition went over with few injuries and mostly failed escape attempts, one group manages to escape and makes it to Hayle before being caught and returned. - July
- Thornean authorities continue to deal with the newcomers and assess their potential. A few imprisoned newcomers are released after being vouched for by the welcomed guests, but some remain imprisoned. Jon Sims assaults Ambrose to gain information and is sentenced to death as a result.
Ambrose takes all of the newcomers to the Singularity and explains their purpose. Upon approaching the Singularity, all characters are drawn to another plane called The Horizon, where they find they can freely draw upon the Singularity's power and manipulate reality. When the newcomers return from the Horizon, they are escorted back to Castle Thorne. - August
- As the execution comes to a head, two mages unaligned with Thorne meet and lend a hand to break the prisoners from jail. Having successfully halted the execution, all the newcomers are given a choice. Stay in Thorne and possibly be imprisoned again, or escape to another settlement and avoid recapture. Most decided to flee.
Those who had not been taken to the Singularity had to be taken there by one of the newcomers Ambrose had taken the first time to indoctrinate them to the Horizon. While the size of the space remains unchanged, those who access it are still able to manipulate reality and visit those who didn't choose the same settlement. - September
- Characters settle into their respective territories and cities of choice. All are allowed an opportunity to speak to their representatives, including those who remain in Castle Thorne who were once imprisoned. However, something may be afoot when near the end of the month, Thorne is not the only one continuing to summon people. It seems both Solvunn and the Free Cities have begun to do summons of their own, bringing in new faces from other worlds.
- October
- Despite the newly summoned, things remain relatively quiet - until strange shimmering messages begin to appear. All of the summoned find they have the new ability to communicate across distances with their fellow summoned using their thoughts and some concentration, thanks to their mutual connection to the Singularity. Currently, only the summoned are aware of this connection and know of it. NPCs do not yet realize the summoned have access to this ability.
Not long after, a ritual gone wrong in Solvunn causes spirits and ghosts to rise up during the holiday of Eifstide across all of Abraxas at midnight. By sunrise, the spell has thankfully been reversed. - December
- This year's Dimming resulted in a clash between all three territories as leaders attempted to take advantage of the Summoned, who are capable of approaching the Singularity without being disintegrated. Some of Thorne's caskets of the Singularity's magic fell into either Solvunn's or the Free Cities' hands, but a few were delivered directly to the Singularity. Those not participating in the conflict were able to enjoy their territory's respective celebrations and festivals during the period of the Dimming.
Year 20,077
- February
- After the events of the Dimming and some unrest in the Free Cities that leads to a delegation sent to Solvunn, the three territories join efforts to hold a Peace Summit. Speeches were given by all three leaders and each territory displayed its best qualities to the Summoned, who were granted the opportunity to safely move to another territory if they wish. Underlying tensions remain apparent, however, when a final friendly display at the end of the Summit results in a confrontation that sends everyone home in a somber mood.
- March
- On the 13th of March, a solar eclipse arrives in Abraxas without warning, following a flash of activity over the Singularity. Sometimes known as the Singularity's Eye, this particular eclipse lasts for an unusual length of time - a full 24 hours before the darkness fades.
- April
- The night before April 18, dreams of the Summoned were disrupted by a vivid image of the same eclipse that occurred last month - opening into a disturbing eye that stared at every dreamer. For a week following this incident, many of the Summoned suffered headache-inducing visions of each other's past as their memories opened up to each other. Afterwards, the major territories took action, requesting that each of the Summoned cooperate in some manner with officials.
- May
- Between May 22 - 28, small rodent-sized Moth Hares made an unprecedented migration across Abraxas. While these creatures normally nest near the Singularity and have done so undisturbed for many decades, it seems the recent activity around the Singularity caused them to relocate en masse. No real harm was ultimately done, but a small bit of chaos arose in every territory during that week.
- June
- Beginning June 18, the Summoned are once again disrupted by something strange through the Singularity. This time, their nightmares manifest in unsettling ways and an Entity threatens to break into the waking world. Territory leaders ask for the Summoned's help in stopping this phenomenon. Following this incident, the territories begin to exhibit movement within their militaries and government councils suggesting they are preparing for what may come.
Further, a few who enter the Horizon continue to see a strange image glitching into their vision. It is not yet known what's causing this. - July
- In early July, the major territories are seen receiving ambassadors from Nocwich. It would seem some kind of discussion or agreement has been made - and that Nocwich may soon enter the playing field.
Additionally, an art walk organized by two of the Summoned has begun to shift political sentiments within Cadens thanks to the influx of its neighboring city's counterculture. - August
- Mid-August, the Summoned are invited to visit Nocwich's newly opened Oleuni Square. The week-long event culminated in a special full moon festival held in either Ikorr or Luna, which the Summoned could choose one to attend. The good cheer doesn't last long, and an urgent threat disrupts the evening.
As events unfold, influenced by the choices of the Summoned, the delegates are injured and Grigory Jannus of Thorne is assassinated, leading the Queen sending an attack on the Free Cities which destroys half of Libertas. - September
- After Thorne made the first move, the Free Cities fired back by setting ablaze Thorne's grain stores, farmlands, and harvest source. In both the Free Cities and Thorne, tensions are high with higher arrests, dissatisfaction and fear among the citizens, and the increased presence of soldiers. Solvunn, meanwhile, has maintained its neutrality by providing aid to Thorne and the Free Cities.
- October
- After blood spilled between Thorne and the Free Cities, alongside a great sacrifice in Solvunn by a group of Summoned that stirred one of the gods, three of the Old Gods awoke: heralds of war that bring with them afflictions that spreads throughout the land and who forged a unique connection with the Summoned. The Horizon also undergoes some unusual disturbances, corrupting domains and trapping those who enter in bizarre scenescapes.
While events have settled somewhat, the three major territories have grown wary both among the common people and officials. A few of the Summoned have started to be pulled aside for questioning. - November
- Nocwich, who remains free from the influence of the Heralds last month, has decided that it's ready to open Oleuni Square on a more regular basis.
While the territories of Ikorr and Luna outside of the Square continue to remain closed, portals to Oleuni Square will now open for 3 days every first weekend of each month. Any character who has their pendant from the original Nocwich trip can continue to use it to visit while the newly Summoned will be given a pendant upon arrival after they've formally settled into their territories. - December
- An an effort to enter the world stage, the Lunae of Nocwich stepped in to host a mediation between the three major territories. This involved making sure the Summoned and other important officials were contained in one place during the week of the Dimming. Though attendance was not as voluntary as they might've liked, the Summoned were nonetheless able to enjoy an all-expenses paid "vacation" to Luna and sail on the luxurious Arcanis.
Negotiations were considered relatively successful. No incidents occurred, and the three territories came to the agreement outlined here.
Year 20,078
- January
- Having decided to attempt to call upon the will of the ocean gods, Solvunn sent an offering into the sea, resulting in sea giants - creatures from the ocean deep - beaching themselves on the shores of each territory.
In the weeks following the beached sea giants, reports of a surge in fish in the ocean begin to come in from each territory. While this doesn't last forever, and the fish shortage is not entirely resolved, the modest boon is a welcome surprise to all. Solvunn has seen this as a sign that the creatures were a test from the gods, and that they were rewarded for passing. - February
- Late February, some of the Summoned begin to go missing across Abraxas. They leave behind disturbing signs of a struggle, desiccated wildlife, and speak of masked figures wielding dark magic.
The captured Summoned struggle to survive, undergo a harrowing ritual, and unravel the mysterious in the cavern they're held. Meanwhile, those free begin the search for their friends. Their investigations reveal many important developments that lead to the discovery of where the abducted Summoned are held. As the month draws to a close, plans begin to form. - March
- By the third week, the situation changes. Several captive Summoned break free while others stay behind to ensure their friends can escape. Those who ran end up teleported to an unknown mountain range. Temperatures are cold and snow covers the ground.
Rescue efforts are ongoing. By the end of the month, the Summoned have been saved and have returned home following a week's stay in Nocwich for observation. Recovering from the ordeal may take more time, but things are slowly returning to normal. - April
- Following the abductions, a formal Summoned Conclave was established, where motions can be passed and representatives are voted in. Major votes include deciding upon the execution or imprisonment of captured unrepentant Acolytes. Those who defected have had their deals honoured.
At the end of April, Josselyn Creed was executed through the will of the Old Gods, according to Solvunn's traditions. A few days later, the territories hosted a weekend gala to celebrate the brave efforts of the Summoned and the safe return of the missing. - May
- Motions from the Summoned Conclave were approved by their respective territories. Thorne's trusted Summoned at a certain influence rank can now carry small personal weapons within the Castle, a permanent portal to Aquila has opened in the Free Cities - though a toll is required - and Solvunn's community has come together to sustain a transport system via goat carriage and portal.
Additionally, peculiar lights have been spotted at the furthest outskirts of town. No one quite yet knows what they mean. - June
- Following the strange lights, the Summoned received an exclusive invitation to the Feywilds. No outsiders other than the Summoned were allowed to attend - including territory officials. There, the Summoned were able to speak to important Fey figures to learn about their history. An extravagant Masquerade was held on the final day.
- July
- Motions from the Summoned Conclave were approved by their respective territories. In Thorne, a permanent portal to Borrel was established without restriction. No fee is required to use the portal. Meanwhile, Portam Hall approved a request to revisit the island where the Lost were held. Political negotiations with the other territorys are required to proceed, however.
Mid-month, unusual rifts opened up, causing some moderate disarray as previously unseen but largely benign creatures, called Anomalies, fell into Abraxas - including those from the Summoned's realms. - August
- Chaos reigns when the rifts worsened. No longer harmless, the Anomalous Beasts that rampaged through the open rifts caused unmatched destruction in many areas throughout Abraxas. Fortunately, major cities and towns were spared, but notable areas hosting important resources or workers were impacted - including mines, lumber mills, farmlands, and more.
In the aftermath, the territories used the incident to spin the narrative to their political advantage. They insisted that it is of utmost importance they continue on their path of bringing in the Summoned to protect their the territory - and the world at large. - September
- Following the destruction, curious entertainers arrived to assist with restoration efforts and spread some good cheer. Many Summoned proceeded to help clean up the damaged areas while others decided to deliver trinkets to children and the wounded.
- October
- Letters from the Nether were sent to the Summoned Conclaves, requesting help with their ailing dragons, a crisis that threatened to destabilize or even destroy the Dracaone. The Summoned then voted on whether they'd negotiate as representatives of their territories or proceed to aid the dragons alone. Decision made, the Summoned traveled to the Nether, where some met with the Nether's leaders while others sought a cure.
Thanks to efforts from the Summoned, a healing elixir was created and the Nether's last two adult dragons are slowly recovering. In exchange, each territory received a something in return. - November
- November brought new developments in each territory: Thorne promotes one of its most decorated captains to Admiral and commences a new monthly festival in Borrel, the Free Cities publicly executes the man they claim is responsible for the attacks on Nocwich two years ago, and Solvunn confirms Isar Hart from the Secondary Settlement as the third and final member of the Council - marking the first time the Tertiary Settlement does not have a representative.
- December
- All over Abraxas, the holidays were celebrated. Thorne recognized the Dimming, the Free Cities showed off their Festvial of Enlightenment, and Solvunn enjoyed the Winter Solstice. Oleuni Square was open for two weeks with the Arcanis docked nearby for added entertainment.
At the request of all three Conclaves, the Summoned were allowed to return to the island and assist in retrieving the remains of those left behind. They voted to raze the island and cleanse it of the corruption, leaving a barren wasteland behind. For now.
Year 20,079
- January
- Following the return to the island, recovered bodies and belongings were identified, and returned to waiting loved ones. Many of the Summoned volunteered to help with this task while Luna offered to assist with storing and processing any contaminated remains that can't be returned.
- February
- Near end of the month, Ikorr finally opened its doors, inviting the Summoned to a grand carnivale called Epulum. When a mysterious crime is uncovered partway through the night, events continue to spiral, resulting in the gruesome death of the culprit. Tensions rose further when Luna demanded Ikorr hand over a powerful artifact.
- March
- A strange presence made itself known as the Summoned returned home. Not long after, unusual storms broke out across Abraxas. The unusual horizontal lightning appeared to originate from the Singularity. In Nott, Admiral Rudolph Sidwell arrives from Borrel to build a naval base in exchange for resources to help the lakeside town.
- April
- When the storms grow violently dangerous, the three territories come together to bring the Summoned to the Singularity's crater - willingly or not. Once there, the Summoned were absorbed into the vision of a future where they walked the earth as equals of the older Gods. Though this future spanned 800 years, in reality, only three weeks passed before the Singularity ejected them.
- May
- The Summoned's return mid-May was met with a mysterious message in the Horizon. The territories began to undergo some changes in power structure and new emerging faces.
- June
- A coup in the Kingdom of Thorne to overthrow the existing monarchy was associated with a Heartwood attack on Cadens, which angered the Old Gods in Solvunn and put all on high alert. This was seen as a call to war. A few important Summoned in Thorne's deposed monarchy fled to Nott during this period.
- August
- The Heralds of War returned, afflicting the people and causing strange dreams. The Summoned were introduced to Zorne, the Herald of Last Blood, who saw his mission as that of bringing peace through bloodshed. Solvunn seemingly chooses a side. The Free Cities claims victory of the Badlands as a result of Solvunn's actions through the Gods. Solvunn now shares a portion of the desert while Thorne has retreated.
- September
- As summer turns to fall, eerie whispers surface throughout the territories. Dolls move, spirit boards go missing, and children speak to shadows. Eifstide is on its way.
