NPCs
Below are some of the named mod-controlled NPCs in Abraxas. All NPCs are available for players to interact with. If you have a plot or a reason for your character to speak to or gain the attention of an NPC, you can submit your ideas on the Plot Engagement page. The purpose of NPCs is to facilitate player goals and provide information or resources for player plots. NPCs are not meant to be a primary source of CR for player characters.

Players are also welcome to make up their own (lower-ranked) NPCs to populate the world of Abraxas such as shopkeepers, neighbors, city clerks, common soldiers, and similar. While you don't need to formally add your NPC before using them, if you'd like to contribute an NPC to the world for other players to also view and use, you can submit them on our World Building page.
Major Territories
NPCs in this section are generally accessible provided the character resides within the associated territory.
Kingdom of Thorne
Name: King Rudolph Sidwell
Affiliation: Thorne
Sign: Justice
Bio: One of Thorne's most decorated naval officers, and recent King. Equally respected and feared amongst his men, he has a reputation of being stern and unyielding, but honorable - at least how Thorne tells it. Few dare to cross him. Queen Ellya was known to be his favorite niece...though one has to wonder now. A former Admiral, he remains a tactician first and a ruler second.

Name: Queen Lia Sidwell
Affiliation: Thorne
Sign: Death
Bio: The former Admiral's second wife, Lia is warmer than her husband but no less stern under the right circumstances. She is quiet, unassuming, and dislikes the extravagance of court. A loving mother, she has a fondness for other children and will offer to mind them if she spots a harried parent running errands. Prior to her ascension to the throne, she was often seen aiding the common folk.

Name: Lyle Vela
Affiliation: Thorne (Nott)
Sign: The Tower
Bio: A serious, shrewd man who doesn't waste his words. Slow to anger and frugal, he's known as a man of the people who's wholly devoted to Nott and its citizens. Born poor and having worked his whole life to get where he is, Lyle has never forgotten where he comes from and holds the safety and prosperity of Nott above all. Having earned the support of a number of his people, he's managed to avoid any public scandals - but his rise to political power contains a fair bit of blackmail in the early years. Speaks plainly and leans heavily into the 'just one of the people' brand.

Name: Mace Hemmet
Affiliation: Thorne
Sign: The Lovers
Bio Extremely gifted with magic and hailing from Borrel, Mace's family has close ties to King Rudolph. Absent of any ambition despite his magical talent, he's eager to please and believes wholeheartedly in the monarchy. He spends his free time doting on Thorne's hunting hounds. Queen Ellya initially took him on as her newest personal apprentice following Grigory's death. Having proven his loyalty to the new monarchy, he is now serving as Thorne's current High Mage.

Name: Ambrose Rhett
Affiliation: Thorne (Exiled)
Sign: The Magician
Bio: The former High Mage of Thorne, a position he held for over a decade. He can be stern and doesn't always come across well in personal interactions with others, but he sincerely believes that the safety of all worlds depends on the work with the Singularity that Thorne is doing. After the fall of the Galdwin dynasty, Ambrose has fled to Nott and is now living in exile.

Name: Sergeant Ellis Ward
Affiliation: Thorne
Sign: Temperance
Bio Sergeant Ellis Ward has served the Royal Guard faithfully since his youth. His loyalties are to the people first, and he's survived the recent coup by proving that his allegiance is not dependent on who currently rules Thorne - he just wants to do the right thing and keep his homeland safe. Rumor has that every so often, he will discreetly send money to a household in Nott. The home consists of another young man and two children.

Name: Anastasia Rhett
Affiliation: Thorne
Sign: The World
Bio: The Duchess of Hayle, who also oversees operations at Hayle University. She is Ambrose's sister, but they are not on speaking terms unless it is absolutely necessary. Unlike most Thorneans, she sees the Singularity as a burden they must tend to rather than a source of power, and she has her own plans for the Kingdom if she can gain enough influence.

Name: Jolene Sybell
Affiliation: Thorne
Sign: The Chariot
Bio: One of the top students from Hayle University, and Anastasia's protege. Her specialty is officially healing and medical magic, but she is quietly training to become one of Thorne's few necromancers. Her loyalty is primarily to Anastasia, and she is keeping an eye on Ambrose, though these details are not openly known.

Name: King Brydan Galdwin III
Affiliation: Thorne
Sign: Temperance
Bio: The King of Thorne. He is primarily concerned with issues of diplomacy, agriculture, civil unrest, and the Thornean economy. Although there is still a major class divide in Thorne, King Galdwin III has put more focus onto the needs of the average civilian than his predecessors. He is well-liked among the people but the Council considers him a bit of a pushover. DECEASED.

Name: Queen Ellya Galdwin
Affiliation: Thorne
Sign: Justice
Bio: The Queen of Thorne. She is primarily concerned with issues relating to the Singularity and the growing power of the other two territories. She comes from a long line of Thornean military personnel, and her uncle is an Admiral in Borrel's naval forces. She is more respected by the Council than her husband. She has a ruthless streak, and will let nothing stop her from achieving her goals. DECEASED.

Name: Grigory Jannus
Affiliation: Thorne
Sign: The High Priestess
Bio: The only apprentice mage that does not come from Hayle University, Grigory is the Queen's personal choice. A military brat from Borrel who specializes in combat magic. If you've ever been restrained during your arrival, you can probably thank Grigory. DECEASED.
The Free Cities
Name: Marlo Reiner
Affiliation: The Free Cities
Sign: Judgement
Bio: A former military captain who is currently starting her third term as elected Prime Minister. She is overwhelmingly popular in the Free Cities and her growing power is of great concern to Thornean Royalty.

Name: Quilleth Kaur
Affiliation: The Free Cities
Sign: Temperance
Bio Representative of Libertas with a lackadaisical style of oversight and avid support of the local art scene. Quilleth does not usually keep regular office hours but is always willing to meet with constituents.

Name: Darras Vale
Affiliation: The Free Cities
Sign: The Sun
Bio Representative of Aquila (Acting). Darras is a bookkeeper who was promoted after a fatal attack on his colleagues. He's stepped up to try and regain order in Aquila. Though he studied design and tailoring, his natural head for numbers led him to take on accounting roles for various festivals and galleries, eventually landing a position in Portam Hall's treasury cabinet. Known for being sharply dressed.

Name: Reva Hym
Affiliation: The Free Cities
Sign: The Emperor
Bio: A young but ambitious officer in the Free Cities army, Reva has made some political connections with the Prime Minister. The two have been seen working closely together on tactics and plans. Rumor has it that she hopes to prove herself soon and earn a promotion - best done, of course, when there's a war to fight. She's recently been promoted to Captain.

Name: Fallon Marsh
Affiliation: The Free Cities
Sign: Death
Bio Former representative of Aquila with an eye for commerce. Fallon has only been in his position for the last few years but the economic strides Aquila has taken while under his leadership can't be ignored. DECEASED.

Name: Aleksander Klingel
Affiliation: The Free Cities
Sign: The Magician
Bio An eccentric engineer and member of the Cadens local government. His disagreeable personality makes him a poor party guest, but he is a brilliant inventor and therefore keeps his position. It is said that some of the most popular innovations out of the Free Cities were done under his oversight.
Solvunn Commune
Name: Rowan March
Affiliation: Solvunn
Sign: The Wheel of Fortune
Bio: Born into a long line of farmers, he’s the son of one of the head families in the Secondary Settlement. He gained attention by keeping the peace between farms and organizing and growing the settlement’s festivals which are known to be a boisterous affair. While not seeing to the affairs of the Council, he runs his family’s market stall. He and Isar Hart grew up side by side on their farms. Winifred's recent sacrifice has resulted in Rowan stepping up to be Head of Council. He has moved to the Primary Settlement, making this the second time a Council member is representing a settlement other than the one they hail from.

Name: Isar Hart
Affiliation: Solvunn
Sign: Death
Bio: Though Isar has repeatedly declined to run for Council, he's often consulted for advice and is a staple figure in the Secondary Settlement. Following Josselyn's departure, he's now permanently taken a seat on the Council. His ancestry traces back to one of the first settlers in Solvunn - proud shepherds who own a sheep pasture that's been maintained for generations. He's frequently accompanied by his herding dog, named Skadi. He and Rowan March grew up side by side on their farms.

Name: Edda Hagen
Affiliation: Solvunn
Sign: The Magician
Bio: A reclusive traveling healer who always shows up when animals need her. She's an old friend of Winifred's and appeared in the months leading up to Winifred's sacrifice. Due to her way with livestock and the continued presence of auspicious white ravens at her side, she has assumed the role of the Secondary Settlement's representative, though she formally has no roots in any one settlement. Her talent with High Magic makes her a valuable consultant amongst the Elders.

Name: Lorelai ('Hydnellia')
Affiliation: Solvunn
Sign: Temperance
Bio: Rescued by the Summoned during a previous event, Lorelai has reclaimed her original given name. She's resettled in her old home in the Tertiary Settlement with her younger brother, Esmond. They keep to themselves, but are open to receiving visitors, particularly those who helped them escape. They sell herbs and teas from foraged materials. She is reluctant to discuss her distinctive appearance.

Name: Winifred Bordeaux
Affiliation: Solvunn
Sign: The World
Bio Former Head of the Council, she served the most consecutive terms to date. A once-beloved school teacher who wanted to better her community. Name: Josselyn Creed
Affiliation: Solvunn
Sign: The Moon
Bio: The youngest member of the council, just finishing her first term. Elected for her ability to find alternative solutions. Her family handles third-party transactions for supplies from Thorne and Cadens. Responsible for a rash of abductions across Abraxas, Josselyn was executed in spring of 20,078. DECEASED.

Nocwich
Name: Celeste
Affiliation: Ikorr
Sign: The High Priestess

The Nether
Name: Charis
Affiliation: The Nether
Title: The Overseer
Sign: The World
Bio Defined by his regal golden horns and glowing eyes, Charis is a stern but fair leader, with a dry sense of humor. He takes his duty to his people and the dragons seriously. As Keeper, his job often involves politics and long meetings to ensure the dragons are protected and have what they need. Ermis has been a Keeper nearly all of his life and has never left the Nether. As a result, he's set in his ways and is reluctant to trust outsiders.

Name: Orion

She has more faith in the outsiders than he does. With an impeccable poker face, she is a formidable opponent at cards.

Name: Anneth
Affiliation: The Nether
Title: The Flame
Sign: The Magician
Bio Unlike most of the Draconae, Anneth focuses on healing magic and has devoted her life to studying numerous draconic rites, as well as the Nether's rich history.
