Quests
Quests are specific activities taken up by player characters in-game to accomplish pre-determined tasks. Tier 1 quests are available to all players while Tier 2 quests may require some influence rank to participate. They're a great way to set your character on a certain course and gain insight into the world.
Review the quest participation information before signing up.

Quest Participation Information
- How many quests can I take on?
- You can take on a total of one Tier 1 quest and one Tier 2 quest per cycle.
- What are quest tiers?
- There are two quest tiers: Tier 1 and Tier 2. Tier 1 quests are unlimited and have no restrictions while Tier 2 are limited and will have an Influence Rank restriction, typically of at least Rank 2.
Tier 1 Tier 2 Difficulty Easy. Success hinges on turning in the quest by the allotted time. High. Success mainly hinges on turning in the quest by the allotted time but requires more planning and mod feedback. Mod Involvement None. Information on any NPCs facilitating quests will be provided in the quest's description, but the rest is up to you! Minimal to some. Specific NPC interactions can be hashed out OOCly with the quest mod, and while we will not be directly tagging your threads, responses to player actions will be provided. Group Size 1-4 2-4* Slots Unlimited 1-3* - How often are quests available?
- Quests are provided every other "off" month that does not have a game-wide event. Depending on event planning and other circumstances, some quest cycles may be skipped. We'll announce it if this is the case.
Quest cycles will follow the schedule below:◎ 5th of quest month: Quest information is posted for viewing.
We'll announce the opening and closure of quest sign-ups on the day of, but we will not announce it down to the minute as we do with applications and reserves. Please make sure your comment falls within the acceptable timestamp.
◎ 10th of quest month: Quest sign-ups are open 12:01 AM ET.
◎ 17th of quest month: Quest sign-ups are closed 11:59 PM ET. - How do I sign up for a quest?
- To sign up for a quest, fill out the form provided and comment under the applicable heading.
◎ Tier 1: Only one person needs to sign up for the group. You can also sign up solo if you want.
See the example sign-up thread.
◎ Tier 2: Individual team members will need to submit their own form under the applicable team heading. This will allow us to customize information and rewards for participants. Each team will count as one slot. We'll post the "Teams" as a comment ahead of time. Players will simply need to reply under the team consisting of group members they want to team up with. - How long do I have to begin the quest?
- Tier 1 quests can be started any time. As long as the thread is completed by the deadline, you'll receive your reward. However, please keep your teammates in mind and make sure you're appropriately available to progress the thread.
Tier 2 quests must have a comment from you within 7 days after a mod approves the quest sign-up. If you're a day or so late, we won't be strict about it. Mostly, this is to allow both the mods and your teammates to check in and make sure everyone is available to begin the quest and complete it. Because Tier 2 quests are limited in slots, if it appears the team or a player is unable to begin the quest on time, we may decide to open up the slot to another team or player. - How do I complete a quest?
- Once you've signed up for a quest, we'll approve it. The group can then begin to thread. Once the thread has reached a conclusion on or before the due date, reply to your original comment with the link to the thread. A mod will respond to confirm completion. At that stage, you may assume your character receives the specified reward on the Quest information.
- What do I get for completing a quest?
- Completing a quest can gain you any number of the following, depending on the specifics of the quest, territories, and NPCs involved, as well as difficulty:
- An increase to increase your character's influence with their territory.
- Territory lore and/or game metaplot information.
- Unique items or abilities.
- Can I fail a quest?
- Yes, it is possible! If the main plot elements of the quest thread (backthreading for flavor is acceptable) are not completed by the deadline, then the quest has failed. There are also opportunities to fail a completed quest ICly due to character choices, but those will only be in Tier 2. In these instances, failure will be based on player responses to mod questions or with a direct NPC thread. Failure is not necessarily bad! You may gain new insight and lore even if you don't complete the objective and it can lead to new character development opportunities.
- I may not complete my quest on time and I don't want to fail! Can I ask for an extension?
- If you have any concerns about the timeline for your quest, please contact the mods for extenuating circumstances before the quest deadline, if possible. While we ask that players do their best to make sure they can actively participate when signing up, we understand the unexpected can happen.
- I see a quest I like but my character may not feasibly go for. What do I do?
- Some quests may be taken on by multiple players, so teaming up with another character who may be more inclined to take on that task would be a good place to start. Depending on the nature of the quest, you may also be approached by an NPC (assumed or otherwise) for the task.
- How many people can form a group for a quest?
- Typically, each team for a Tier 1 quest will consist of 1-4 members while Tier 2 quests will consist of 2-4 members. If there are any exceptions, they'll be noted in the quest information itself.
- How do solo quests work?
- Performing a quest solo will carry the same criteria as performing it with a team. You'll still need to submit a thread or log for proof of progress, but you won't need to play it out with a predesignated group. Instead, you can write an open top level or log where other characters (whether they're participating in the quest themselves or not) can interact with your character while they go about their task.
For completion, there should be at least one tag or thread written that includes the character "ending" the quest, if this is applicable. Characters who tag into a quester's log or thread will not receive quest rewards unless they have also signed up for the quest separately. Two solo questers can "team up" without formally submitting themselves as a team. Just be sure to submit your thread completion separately, as well! - What happens if a group signs up for a quest but a character is unable to participate or idles?
- When you sign up for a quest you are agreeing to complete it. However, we will not punish members of a group for the inactivity of another player. Mods reserve the right to give inactive characters IC consequences and remove them from the quest thread if necessary. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you feel you're unable to complete a quest due to circumstances beyond your control and you have already tried addressing the issue on your own.
