THE GODS ◎
The Gods
Below is a list of the gods in Abraxas.
You can learn more about the gods and traditions related to them on the LORE page. The gods are divided into the Old Gods of the Ancient Pantheon and the Cardinal Gods of the New Order. This page will be updated as additional gods are introduced.
Anything listed on this page can be assumed as general knowledge for those in Solvunn. For characters outside of Solvunn, the specifics might be murkier. Things such as precise names, images, or stories might be lost.

Herald of Poisoned Tongues
A mouthless figure with many followers in red. Adlewyrd brings words that poison the heart and mind. This affects thoughts and emotions, a slow and subtle influence that spreads. They often appear after a conflict or bloodshed, stirring hate and cruel thoughts, and causing people to succumb to secrets and temptations. Many pray to appease Adlewyrd in times of war in hopes that it will restore peace and calm.
Adlewyrd is also known to cause foul waters. Wildlife is often most significantly affected. When Adlewyrd comes, dead fish float in the seas, crops fail, and livestock produce poisoned products such as spoiled milk from sheep and rotten eggs from chickens.

Guardian of the Last Light
An enormous dragon-like being who may have long ago been worshipped in the Nether. Argus has control over the environment but the full effects have not been seen. It has been dormant for many centuries and has recently awoken after Elders in Solvunn sought its aid.
Possibly, the dragons of the Nether have a symbiotic relationship with Argus, who birthed the dragons as they're known today. While the Nether does not worship gods per se, they do have a healthy respect and trust in those who protect their dragons. Seen as creations of Argus, the dragons are said to be imbued with the ability to sustain life in the Nether's originally barren lands. Others say instead of being a direct creation, the dragons made a pact with Argus for their powers - perhaps the first ever made in Abraxas.
The Draconae themselves will not divulge their precise beliefs in this regard.

Herald of Purification
A massive form of a vulture bearing a thorny gold crown. Cadaevos is called upon when misdeeds caused by one or more of the community require a rite of purification. Those responsible for terrible crimes are often sacrificed to her to cleanse the community and allow them to move forward anew.
Cadaevos will only accept sacrifices of blood and flesh. She rarely reveals her true form, instead appearing as large wings shadowing the sky, surrounded by dozens of vultures. Scavengers such as carrion birds and rats are considered her kin. Many who worship her, therefore, have great respect for such creatures who keep the land clean by feasting on the dead and rot.

Guardian of Renewal
A multi-winged butterfly figure. Endrborrin is associated with the Spring Equinox. New arrivals during a previous spring were given a charm depicting a butterfly with multiple wings. Offerings are often made to her before the Spring Equinox to ensure the coming season brings good fortune.
Her main shrine is located in the Secondary Settlement, where agriculture is most important. Spring flowers are planted around it, creating a colorful bloom. Carved on her shrine is the following inscription:
Night and day in perfect balance
Fertility of the earth
Growth of the flock
She who shepherds life from death

Herald of Festering Lands
A blossoming plant-like figure, bleeding decay. Koth brings with her death and rot. This affects vegetation, wildlife, livestock, the dead, and the soul itself. She does not bring literal death to living people - only to the things around them and within them. Those touched by her presence feel their negative emotions amplified: bitterness, despair, guilt, and anger. Associated with war and conflict, many believe she is responsible for the all-consuming fear and hopelessness that comes with dark times.
Koth is also known to cause the dead to rise. This includes animals and people who crawl forth from their graves in varying states of decay. They are not quite zombies but animated corpses that wander like mindless, perhaps confused, spirits. They might attack if they were aggressive in life, they might walk aimlessly, and others still appear to enact their last living moments.

Patron of Life
An amalgamation of man, flora, and fauna. The bringer of life in all forms, Lyfbringr represents fertility, bountiful crops, and growth. Newborns are frequently taken to his shrine to give them their first blessing.
He's also associated with the Spring Equinox in Solvunn and has a shrine dedicated to him at that time, often decorated half in bright cheery colors and half in darker monochromatic shades. Where offerings to Endrborrin are to usher in renewal, offerings made to Lyfbringr are to ensure an abundance of all things: harvests, livestock, and, of course, love.

Herald of Many Faces
A shadowy figure holding a white or red mask. Sannleikr brings deception of the soul. Appearances become distorted, untrustworthy, or altogether unrecognizable. Friends turn into enemies. Associated with war and conflict, Sannleikr is said to be the reason mistrust and discord are sown in a community - especially when the conflict is rooted in betrayal.
Sannleikr is also known to cause a frenzy in crows, vultures, rats, and other scavengers resulting in them feasting upon the eyes of the dead and leaving all other parts behind. Many corpses and carcasses surface throughout the land with empty eye sockets from livestock to people.

Patron of Dark Blessings
A figure with split features and a horned skull. Soris Immaneus is invoked during times of strife for her protection against even darker troubles. Her role is to restore balance to the nature of things, for better or for worse. Tragedies such as unexpected loss of life are frequently attributed to her. Many of her worshippers find solace in the idea that the loss will bring balance elsewhere.
An equivalent cost must be exchanged for her help, whether it be life, magic, or something else. She is occasionally associated with necromancy and the risen dead.

Guardian of the Flock
A beast-like form with a single eye and loom. Spyndlveiss captures wayward sheep who stray from the flock on their way between the settlements. From these lost sheep, he makes sheepskin suits for hungry wolves to wear.
He's often invoked as a warning for those who travel to the Secondary Settlement without an invitation or knowing the route. These people often vanish, never to be heard from again. However, the concept of "straying from the flock" can refer to many things important to Solvunn such as community, family, devotion to the gods, and one's sense of purpose. Many pray to Spyndlveiss when they feel they have lost their way.

Guardian of Last Passage
A multi-limbed insect figure bearing vivid coloring. Vagn guides the dead to their final destination - wherever that may be. Solvunn believes that questioning what lies ahead of them demonstrates a lack of faith in the Gods, so they won't openly speculate where their last journey will take them.
Sigils dedicated to Vagn are usually inscribed on urns and funeral pyres. Many visit her shrine following the loss of a loved one. Vagn does not bring or inflict death. She merely comes to take you away once your time has come. Such an event is referred to as "being embraced in the many arms of death."

Patron of Life
A bipedal seal holding a fishing spear. Xeimer's arrival announces the coming of winter: skies darken, frost grows, and lakes freeze. Offerings of pickled herring and squid are usually made to Xeimer on the Winter Solstice to satisfy his belly. This ensures he will withdraw, happy, when spring arrives. Tales of the Darkest Winter tell of an ancient and forgotten time when Xeimer's great hunger caused him to consume the spring, extending the winter season for many long years.

Herald of Last Blood
A thin figure draped in red and seated on an isolated throne. Zorne is the fourth and final of the Heralds of War. Like the other three, he is not worshipped. Rather, he's seen as a portent. Associated with a rising red sun, he influences baser instincts and coaxes the afflicted into "freeing" their anger, despair, or grief by releasing it. He cannot affect you unless you're already considering an act of violence or aggression on your own. One tale claims he was the first soul to sacrifice his family to end an ancient and long-forgotten war.

Patron of Self-Doubt
A wispy amalgamation of three bodies and a singular eye. The Cloistyyrd both soothes and brings thoughts of uncertainty. It's said that if you see them while you are at the height of confidence, they're an omen meant to humble you and signal a coming fall that will teach you an important lesson.
Offerings to The Cloistyyrd involve burning old possessions that are tied to one's anxieties or past failures, such as a letter of rejection or a ruined painting.

FULL IMAGE
Guardian of the Nameless
A figure crowned with thorns and pierced with ribbons. Innominate is guardian to those who don't belong, who have no true identity. Many who seek answers about their nature pray to him.
When angered, he's said to strip people of the aspects that make them who they are. He's responsible for the devoted mother who loses all her children, for the talented craftsman who can no longer hold his tools, and for the shepherd whose flock is decimated in the night.

FULL IMAGE
Guardian of Clear Skies
A furry creature with a starry sky on his wings. Kew-Is-Sema looks after the skies, making sure that the stars shine at night and that the clouds do not obscure them for too long. Most give offerings and pray for his blessing before setting off on a long journey in hopes that they'll receive clear nights and a bright moon to travel by.
It's said that if you offend him, he'll cloud your path and cause you to lose your way in the darkness. He's also responsible for any shooting stars that soar across the sky.

FULL IMAGE
Patron of the Unstained
A one-eyed figure covered in iridescent bubbles. Misrklen is responsible for the cleansing of bodies and all possessions. Unlike other Gods of purification, this God's role is to remove the stains that would sully you rather than excising the foul object altogether. On a day-to-day basis, his presence is felt when lathering soap, scrubbing your dishes, or using a cleaning spell. Stories say he once sought to purify the souls of his followers but, after failing too many times, grew disillusioned and thus dedicated himself to the simpler task of removing mud and other dark blemishes from the world.

FULL IMAGE
Patron of Phantasms
A mysterious figure carrying three brass orbs of incense. Nikodaemus is associated with mirages and illusions. He's invoked when casting enchantments that glamour or conceal but is also often called upon when his followers seek clarity of vision.
Some Elders who are reluctant to diverge far from the old ways consider Nikodaemus dangerous. They claim if he is not appeased correctly, he will cause you to see what does not truly exist and drive you to madness.

FULL IMAGE
Patron of Heavy Thoughts
A large lumbering figure covered in willowy fur and tree-like antlers. He always carries a bottomless merchant's sack and is never seen without his small companion, a grassy sprite whom he refers to as his son. It is unclear if they are truly related.
The Trader will trade you a bronze coin for your thoughts. He is sought after for his lack of judgement and endless patience, and will listen to everyone's woes no matter how big or small. He is eager to serve tea, biscuits, and other treats to visitors. While his magic does not directly influence a person's mind, he has a soothing aura that helps one unburden their troubles.

FULL IMAGE
Herald of Aberrations
A figure clad in colorful gem-colored armor and a jester-like mask with horns. His cloak of stars is said to be his source of illusions. With it, one can assume any form they wish.
Not widely worshiped due to his capricious nature. He is the first (but perhaps not the last) God to openly demonstrate knowledge of modern Earth elements such as emojis and selfies. Possibly associated with the Twin Latchkeys, a cursed pair of daggers that first surfaced in Ikorr during Epulum (Event #17), and may or may not have been responsible for provoking the alternate reality that followed.

FULL IMAGE
Guardian of Preserved Lands
A grassy figure covered in mushrooms. Vimorskas ensures things grow in the right places at the right time, preserving the ecosystem and biomes throughout the land. Though his power may seem small, he's considered vital to growth and nature. Without him, nothing would flourish.
He rarely makes an appearance except when the land is corrupted or threatened. He is not known to speak but communicates through visions with those he trusts to keep the land safe.

FULL IMAGE
Guardian of the Gloom
A shadowy corvid riding a skeletal steed. Zalyshyty is the Guardian of the Gloom. He provides guidance to lost souls who did not receive their last rites and looks over them until they're able to rest. This includes domesticated animals, such as a beloved dog who might've wandered off and perished in the woods. He often arrives in the form of a multi-headed crow or raven to communicate with those who seek his guidance.
