INFLUENCE ◎

Influence
Influence represents how well your character is known, as well as how developed an opinion people have of them based on their actions in their neighbourhood, city, territory and even beyond, if they make big enough waves. This system is designed to help both you and the mods gauge how NPCs are likely to respond to your character.

Influence is defined by the role characters play in the world (and/or the role you're hoping to have them play as you develop their story.) It is not a level-up system, and should not be treated as one. In fact, you can apply to reduce your influence if you wish, should that be something that factors into your character's plans.

Events and plots will rely on characters with influence on both ends of the scale. Having a low influence is not necessarily negative, and can even be beneficial. Low influence characters might have a higher chance at succeeding in espionage while characters with higher influence would be too recognizable. Conversely, higher influence characters might be able to open doors based on their reputation that would otherwise be closed.
Understanding Influence
What Influence Measures
Influence measures how your character is perceived among the NPCs and local population, for good or ill. Characters who earn enough influence might have their name spread to nearby city, while those who keep a lower profile might only be known around their neighborhood.

Gaining influence with a territory can mean things like the locals having a positive opinion of your character, shopkeepers offering discounts, or the local authorities trusting them more. Negative influence can land your character in hot water! It is currently not possible to play a character with largely negative influence above Rank 5, as they'll be deemed dangerous enough to be detained indefinitely. (A neutral or mostly positive Rank 5 with a few negative incidents is fine.)

Influence does not measure your character's reputation among fellow player characters. It's unlikely the natives of Abraxas will hear of what goes on between the Summoned. It also doesn't indicate how "well" you've been playing the game. Characters can engage deeply with the game's plot without gaining any influence, and influence won't guarantee success or failure with plots and NPC interactions - though it can sway outcomes depending on circumstance.
How to Gain Influence
Anything characters do that would get noticed by natives such as: interacting with NPCs, helping (or hindering!) during events, taking a job, committing crime or causing problems will increase your character’s influence - though it may not be considered positive.

Influence is typically gained for actions that are relatively public and noticed by the Abraxan natives. Characters who operate in secret may not gain much influence due to the nature of their actions even if they may have impacted the setting quite a bit from the shadows. Characters are also unlikely to gain influence for actions taken out of sight of the NPCs. Anything that occurs in the Horizon will likely go unheard of. Actions that occur outside of the character's chosen territory can spread home to their neighborhood, but whether it does and to what degree will depend on the action.

As influence increases, gaining additional rank will require more noticeable actions. Continuing to take on the standard quests or duties they're already known for will serve to maintain their reputation rather than adding to it. For example, characters at rank 6 will need to go out of their way to attract attention - intentionally or otherwise - outside their local area or city in order to attain rank 7.
How to Reduce Influence
Reducing influence is as possible as gaining it! Much like reputation in the real world, characters can fade somewhat from people's memories by keeping a lower profile for an extended period. This is useful for characters who gained a reputation they didn't mean to.

This also allows players more flexibility. Players who ranked their character up, but would now prefer to participate in opportunities that are largely open to lower rank characters, can apply to reduce their influence.

Rank gained will also play a role in how much a character's influence can be reduced. Characters who have reached the higher end of the scale (Rank 6-10) may need to wait longer to reduce their influence - and likely won't ever go back down to anything lower than a 3-5, unless a very long time passes.
What Negative Influence Involves
If your character is the sort to cause problems or maybe just wants to watch the world burn, that'll be noticed, as well. The influence system can also measure how much a character is disliked within their territory. Rocking the boat too much can lead to your character being imprisoned or worse.

Not to worry, though. While negative Influence will make an affected territory disinclined or even hostile towards your character, opposing territories are likely to take a different view. For example, causing trouble in Thorne is likely to get a seal of approval from the Free Cities, and a character with negative influence there may find they have positive influence in their new residence, if they are able to relocate.

Further, influence as a whole can include a combination of positive and negative actions - and may tip towards one end or the other as the game progresses. Players should keep track of their character's reasons for having the reputation they do.

Mods will also keep track of any negative attention characters gain, whether officially submitted or not. While we will not be formally recording if a character's influence is negative or positive on the tracker, keep in mind it is noted and will be applied accordingly where circumstances call for it.
What Each Influence Rank Means
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Level 0: Everyone starts at this level. While the officials involved with bringing you into the world might recognize you, the average citizen on the street has no idea who you are. You keep your head down and your nose clean. In exchange, you can exist in this world unnoticed and unbothered.
★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Level 1: Very easily achieved, even by accident! You're not from around here, and people can tell. Local authorities would've "seen you around," even if they don’t know anything about you. They'll probably give you a few minutes of time if asked. Expect curious looks from citizens who work or live close to where you were Summoned in, but not much reaction the farther out you go. You can still go about your life freely, with a blank slate.
★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Level 2: You've started putting yourself out there and making a little noise! Local authorities are looking at you a bit more closely and, if you've made a good impression, might be more inclined to meet with you and listen to what you have to say. Citizens in your neighborhood may know you as "the guy who did that thing." One or two locals might have enough familiarity with you to put in a good word if asked, such as recommending you to their neighbor as a reliable handyman or a baker of excellent cookies.
★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Level 3: Maybe you've been helping out the folks who brought you here. Maybe you've just been out in public and meeting as many locals as you can. Maybe you’re that weird hobo that people have started pointing out to each other on the street. Whatever you've done, more people are starting to notice you. Your local authorities not only know your face, they have a sense of what sort of person you are and what you do around the city. If they like what they see, they may start reaching out to you now and again. If they don't, you might find yourself given the occasional warning. At this level, you can apply for citizenship where you live (but you don't have to).
★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆
Level 4: You're really starting to make a name for yourself, for good or ill! The local authorities call you by your first name, and maybe even respect your opinion and what you have to say. Whether or not they agree, they're at least inclined to give actual consideration to your point of view. If you've been causing trouble, you may find yourself on the wrong side of the law. In either case, stories of whatever you’ve done to make you well known may start floating around your local haunts. Among the local citizens, your reputation's enough that folks might recommend your services or expertise to each other on their own (or warn one another about you, if you've been behaving poorly).
★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆
Level 5: You're pretty well known in your immediate area! You have a local reputation, and even if it doesn't extend across an entire kingdom, being known by your whole city neighborhood or small town is still pretty neat... unless you've achieved infamy. Individuals behaving badly this obviously and consistently will almost certainly find themselves imprisoned or worse. At this level, local citizens sometimes chat about you unprompted, and might vaguely recognize your name.
★★★★★★☆☆☆☆
Level 6: When you go out, you get noticed! You've probably done enough daring deeds and heroics for shopkeepers to be willing to offer discounts and special little perks. Strangers might buy you drinks. Your local authorities trust your opinion and likely expect your help when it's needed. There might even be some gossip about you around the neighborhood.
★★★★★★★☆☆☆
Level 7: You're a local celebrity at this point! Expect to be recognized as "that guy" when you go about your day. People know your face and name, and might stop on the street to point you out. Even folks in other cities or the far end of your territory have an idea of who you are and what you’ve done...though it may not be entirely accurate the further away you get. Chances are high you'll be granted a meeting if you reach out to officials - or they'll even reach out to you first.
★★★★★★★★☆☆
Level 8: Not only are you a local celebrity, stories and rumors about you are reaching beyond your territory. The world is starting to watch! And it’s well known that you have an "in" with local authorities. They value your opinion and aid, and you may be entrusted with important secrets and positions of leadership. You might even earn a title or public commendation.
★★★★★★★★★☆
Level 9: You’re practically a household name by now across the territory! You've definitely earned yourself a title. You're recognized and respected across your territory. People are writing songs about you and the local authorities rely on you. It's not all peaches and cream, though. Citizens of opposing territories now recognize you as an enemy, and free travel throughout enemy terrain is much more difficult when your face is so well-known.
★★★★★★★★★★
Level 10: You now have such a notable reputation that you are second only to the most influential figures in the world in terms of notoriety. You may be followed, worshipped, revered, feared, and actively targeted by your enemies. At this level, you have the freedom and power to achieve almost any goal you set your mind to.
Applying for Influence
You can request an update to your character's influence level at any time. Your character’s Influence level will be adjusted and recorded in the Influence Roster accordingly. How you approach the form depends on whether you're requesting to increase or reduce your influence level.
For Influence Gains
While minor supplmentary events can be handwaved, we typically want to see in-game examples of your character performing the action you're using for influence. For high ranks in particular, the threads should be somewhat substantial. Threads don't need to play out the act itself. Events can be referenced within another thread instead. For example, rather than writing a thread of your character literally selling a flashy invention to some local NPCs, you can submit a thread of your character revealing their new invention to a friend or telling them about it.

Both quantity and the action itself is important. A single noticeable action can rank your character up as much as a handful of smaller actions. In some cases, we may make a decision to incorporate events not included that'll help boost you to a rank you're requesting if what you've submitted isn't enough. We'll let you know if that happens. In other cases, we might simply ask you to try again. Don't worry if so! There are no consequences to not reaching the rank up threshold, nor is it a reflection of your activity or participation - it just means you need more actions that suit the rank you're requesting.
For Influence Reductions
Because reducing influence is about inaction, you do not need to link thread proofs, though you can do so if your character has done anything that'd help them rank down, such as cutting their hair, taking on a new disguise, or even moving to a new city. Time passing without any incidents (positive or negative) will be weighed most heavily.

When applying to reduce influence, please note how much in-game time has gone by since your character's last noticeable act. This includes acts that you may not have submitted for influence directly, but which would likely be noticed by the general public.

Each character in the game starts at Rank 0. To request an increase or decrease, fill out the form below and reply to the comments section.

Character Name: Lucifer
Faction: Thorne
Requested Rank: 6
Reasons for Request: last request 4/11 lol
- "Vouched" for Brion Creed (via Natasha) whiiiiich was evidently was met with less-than-stellar vibes. Which. Fair.

- His usual daily life routine continues to be training a handful of guards outside of their usual official lessons, as well as sitting in on intermediary (now higher) Enchantment lessons. But during July he was in a bit of a trickster, Doesn't Want to Be in Class Anymore phase (mentioned in a few threads, but with Yennefer as one).

- Courtesy of an ahhherm "magical accident" (as they claimed it to be) that shattered all the glassware in their room, Lucifer and Istredd got put on community service for a month after their Hayle trip. Lucifer did read a couple times to children (dark fairytales) which didn't go over Super Swimmingly. But he did spend the month in the gardens, and has oddly continued to do so since.

- Going to Nott with Istredd to offer a bribery recompense to the family of the fisherman Lucifer Accidentally Got Eaten.

- Lucifer sold a very minor 'firecracker' Enchantment (all the pop, no fire) to a 'small child' (early teens) in Nott for chump, probably stolen, change so he could buy a really bad fiction book that only had sentimental value

- Went to the mountains with Istredd, Yennefer, and several mages to hunt the myriapod. Sharing the beast's arcana, Lucifer proceeded to try and kill everyone, but was quickly prevented by Istredd and Yennefer's tag-teaming. Getting a lose hold of himself, he was able to tear the head free of the beast with the help of everyone involved and no one died.

- Absolutely holes up completely out of sight for most of September. No combat training, no gardening, no magic class attendance.

- Goes with Kyle to clear out the Frostwurm Tunnels. They also return with a marked map.

- Goes with the rest of the Summoned on 'behalf of Thorne' to aid the Nether.

- Beginning to make an acquaintance out of Mace Hemmet.

- Had a very visceral 'spar' against Yennefer (which she 'won'). Witnessed by the guards and a few nearby onlookers. (Thread ongoing.)

- Ran for and somehow got conclave rep but is next-to-useless after about a week, sorry Jill.

- Went to the Island primarily to make sure His People didn't have a meltdown, got their closure. Voted to raze the island. Investigated the altar with a group of other Summoned and relatively successfully extracted the fungal lady.

- Stayed for the entire burning of the island, hyper-focused on the teams doing it, absolutely making sure their were No Mistakes.

- Accompanied Wilhelm and Kell for the Tier 2 quest to transport some of the bodies to Luna. (Thread ongoing, but they've killed many of the boars thus far).

Character Name: Julia Wicker
Territory: Solvunn
Requested Rank: 3
Reasons for Request: After working hard on the Second Settlement shrine for Endrborrin, making it alive with flowers, and creating her personal shrine to do the same, it has attracted the attention of Endrborrin and she displayed her favor by butterflies appearing off-season to rest on the flowers. When she carries them, the butterflies go with her. This may be noticeable to natives both in the Second Settlement and in the Primary at the orchardist where she lives and put her own shrine. As a result of this, she was directly requested to help bring back to life a popular tree (based on mod reply to plot development) so they are starting to reach out to her.

Julia introduced herself to Rowan March.

During the holidays Julia lit candles around the settlement as the natives requested from the Summoned. She joined in on the snowdrop bouquet-making (also at that link). She could be seen at Xeimer's Plunge not only doing it once but multiple times, laughing the whole time, and she pulled other people into doing the plunge.

Julia and Michael volunteered to keep the lamps going in late night shifts are the motion passed.

Requested Rank: Level 7
Reasons for Request:
- was one of the Thorne Summoned representatives to the Nether during negotiations

Character Name: Istredd
Territory: Thorne
Requested Rank: 6 or 7
Reasons for Request:

On top of him regularly teaching classes and hosting the welcome ball for the new Summoned and formerly being a representative:

Istredd is one of the people who worked day and night to get the cure for the dragons. He spoke with Anneth the Flame when taking a break from that to also feed the dragons. While working on it, he experimented with the things they found and went looking for ingredients so he was a part of the whole process. It is probably known by Thorne that he was a part of the cure alchemy development and success.

Istredd took a major part in the island investigations. He searched and found the lady in the altar and safely got her up. He took part in finding the truth about the shrine monster. He helped identify bodies and voted to raze the island. He stayed behind to raze the island personally.

A small thing but relevant: Istredd was behind two separate motions, the return to the island and request for paid labor. If that is known to Thorne officials!

Istredd and Sabine met with Ambrose to request to go to the Singularity again. They did so on the Dimming, and Istredd was allowed to return with many soil samples from the crater. Ambrose at the least would know about these samples and anyone else he would include in the study of them!

He is helping Rhy to renovate the old hospital in Nott to improve their lives.

He took part in the Tier 2 quest with Claude and Nanaue. They fought monsters on the way to drop off bodies that were infected.

If it matters (not sure if Thorne is made aware of the details of Ikorr), he helped investigate matters during the theft and played a key role in getting one of the bottles of wine. He will have also voted to support Ikorr. This only matters if Thorne cares about it, but putting it here anyway!

Character Name: Nadine Cross
Territory: Free Cities
Requested Rank: 7
Reasons for Request: Back during the Anomalies event, Nadine fought against multiple anomalies across the Free Cities.

She was also one of the two delegates to the Nether and helped secure a trade deal.

During Wintertide she participated in multiple charity works across the Free Cities.

She also aided with body identification and assessment during the island aftermath, has been practicing medicine along with established doctors in her third year of medical school including working at various hospitals around Cadens, and along with Julie introduced cannabis to the population of the Free Cities through Salves & Stitches. As well as being a licensed medical researcher for the Academy of Medicine. (I have a lot of threads where these two things are mentioned/referenced/partially shown and can offer them if need be - cannabis selling, discussing community programs and expansion..) Oh, and she helped repair the reefs.

Character Name: Jack Townsend
Territory: Thorne
Requested Rank: Whatever you guys think is best — I think he got up to 3 before I dropped him those few months if that factors in at all, but I'm fine with anything.
Reasons for Request: Since he's been back these last 6 months, Jack's done a few noteworthy things:

- Visibly doubled down on magic lessons with both Istredd & Yennefer, and can frequently be found studying or practicing.

- Published work! Starting with tabloid publications, but eventually after talking to Kell about the process of publishing, has actually put out a novel about the Pit, and is working on his next book already.

- He might have some notoriety for the menace that is his flying raccoon getting into mischief periodically around the castle.

- Sat around in a dissasociative fugue state in the library for a week and then, later, kool-aid man'd a "very important" meeting with Ambrose.

Reasons for Request: Hopefully earning that star back again for some good behavior.

- Helping out with the dragon cure stuff in the aetherie.

- Going overboard on Christmas decorations on the exterior of hunter house, ho ho ho obnoxious holiday joy to annoy the neighbors.

- Handling the spooky supersoldiers the first time, and then following through to get the rest of them a few weeks later at the behest of the military.

- Putting a lot of effort into solving the vampire carnivale mystery. Like, a lot of effort. Just so much effort.

- Doing a metric shitload of construction around Cadens to help repair buildings after the singularity storm. Usually for free.

Character Name: Jerry Pascal
Territory: Thorne
Requested Rank: 1? Maybe 2? idk this is just a bunch of dumb stuff
Reasons for Request:
1) Jerry's been spending a lot of time in the kitchens making friendship / get well soup for jack (and kyle), probably flirting with all kitchen staff. He probably gave the staff some soup too.
2) he built a castle from books around jack in the library for a day or so, but he did return to clean up soon after.
3) he's been using his stone shape power for questionable purposes, thorne might have a new zen rock garden but all the rocks are shaped like dicks (referenced at the end of his network post), i'm so sorry
4) as a distraction for jack, jerry went streaking and slapped a couple guards with a rude pepper concoction.
5) jerry impersonated a cupcake judge, and then impersonated/invented head of cupcake security and maybe told some people there were bees in the cupcakes, it's fine
furibund: (inkonic aru nebula (55))

[personal profile] furibund 2024-06-06 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Nebula
Territory: Solvunn
Requested Rank: Whatever you guys think is best my guess is at best 2-3?
Reasons for Request:
Only somewhat of note, I imagine blue-purple cyborgs are not the norm in Solvunn, so by that note alone her kind of sort of busybodiness was probably noticed in some form. As she hates idle hands, Nebula has been seen to keep very busy and assist in all kinds of matters around the Settlements (Primary, mainly). These include:

(Carnivale, so doesn't super count) She was present in Ikorr and while she did not vote one way or another did spend time learning about the locale and trying to help keep people from getting in various trouble. (TL
- Her first days included standing confused guard and threatening Eli the goat . Also an absurd amount of fishing, like someone stop her. For Himeka, but she'd have given extra away.(1)
- Helped Wanda (1) look after kids and teach them how to make colored eggs... No, she still doesn't get it.
- During the upheavel in Solvunn helped guide back lost children with Rocket while an animal pursued them in the woods; Sometimes you make kids cry accidentally while trying to do the right thing.
- When trapped by bad weather, helped Eddie watch over some kids and critiqued his story skills.
- Seen helping gather and chop downed trees/wood with Wanda
- By the end of event 18, it's become normal to see Nebula around the commune helping repair buildings and do heavy labor. As seen when Himeka finds her here (it's an entire TL).
- Her disdain of goats became more evident should anyone pass her by during the goat races where she'd tell them to go away... Also while helping keep an eye on them when their people walked away. She's very contradictory.
- As a new member of the Treehouse has become involved in the Welcoming committee alongside Himeka, Wanda, and Rocket. Begrudgingly or not she is trying to be more helpful (friendly)?
- She did join Aloy's hunting group after weeks of staying in the woods scaring off/taking care of threats even before her adventure with Rocket! While definitely a thing, short of a TL prompt not much has been done here yet.

I can try and find direct links but while the above gets the jist of it: Nebula comes across as a serious, no-nonsense hardworker. While she doesn't stand around for small talk and can come across as ornery, if it comes to someone's home needing upkeep or help procuring food she usually takes the time to help. Especially/during after the bad weather, Nebula made a concentrated effort to invest a lot of time in clearing up areas and repairing what needed to be done. She didn't often help look for lost goats - yes, it's personal - if some kid looked at her sadly she definitely did! And most notably, she kept an eye out and was softer with children than adults.

  • Aided with storm evacuation in Nott - 1, 2.

  • Aided in Ikorr investigation -
    1

    Character Name: Zagreus
    Territory: Solvunn
Requested Rank: 1, maybe 2? I have no idea, whatever's appropriate really
Reasons for Request: Zagreus's appearance probably makes him notable all on its own - he's got one very unusual looking eye, his feet are burning-red hot all the time (and he's probably been leaving scorch marks all over Solvunn. Pity the floors of his host family).

He will also have been generally very friendly and polite to the locals, and will also have casually mentioned being a god on a number of occasions.

As for notable actions, he has:
    • Saved goats with Julia and with Wanda
    • Joined Aloy's monster hunting crew (for which I also had a prompt on here, although no one tagged it so no thread)

    Character Name: Julia Wicker
    Territory: Solvunn
Requested Rank: 4 or 5, whatever you think is fair.
    Reasons for Request:

During the storms Julia taught magic, picking up people's livestock during the storms to save them, escorts kids to their families, knocking occasional heavy winds off before they hit people or crops with her magic, tried to protect Endrborrin's shrine as best as she could, especially using her goddess magic to push the winds back with a shield of light from the shrine (though it was only temporary help).

Post event, Julia goes back to check on Endrborrin's shrine to clean it up, whatever the locals haven't done yet, and grows some more flowers there. She is seen meditating and praying, sometimes with Endrborrin's butterflies flying around her head and her flowers. She walks around the settlement with those flowers in her hair to show her connection to the goddess.

During the attack, Julia takes the kids and elderly from her host home through the portal and protects them. She tells kids stories to distract them in the ritual site and takes part in the Seeing Eyes ritual. She teaches people specifically air spells in case of fog again. Afterward she tries to help the goats by drawing runes and harvests the mushrooms to help clear the waters. She chose to protect the waters.

She is also a newly elected Solvunn representative and joined Aloy's Summoned hunting group.

    Character Name: Shepard
    Territory: Free Cities
Requested Rank: Level 1-4, or whatever you think is appropriate. I dare to dream big, but I just don't know what's a reasonable level to ask for.
Reasons for Request: I've ignored this page for a really long time and this feels overdue, so. Shepard has been in and around the Free Cities, most notably Cadens for two years, and for most of that time she has been serving in a military capacity, despite having no citizenship. During her time she has:

    Character Name: Achilles
    Territory: Solvunn
Requested Rank: 1 or 2, whichever is appropriate
    Reasons for Request:

    - Achilles hunts on a near daily basis and divides his catch among local families (food, pelts) and the gods for sacrifice.

    - He sometimes performs at The Drunken Lamb, sharing stories of his home.

    - While staying in the ritual site, he entertained children with such stories too.

    - He also fended off the mole rats and giant worms, although he was keener to kill than trap. Oops.

    - He helped weave seashells by the seashore in supplication to the gods, praying for the protection of the sea.

    - Also he literally never wears pants. Sorry.

    Character Name: Wilhelm
    Territory: Thorne
    Requested Rank: 4
    Reasons for Request:

    - During the Feast of the New Dawn, he briefly greeted Lyle Vela. (I forgot to include this last time!)

    - He helped escort a cart loaded with the infected bodies of victims of Josselyn's cult. Using his magic, he shrouded the cart in darkness to camouflage it. When the party was attacked by torcainse boars, he fought using his fire magic.

    - He has regularly helped in Nott when needed, including delivering meals and donating enchanted logs to the workers rebuilding the hospital, and moving supplies via bicycle when the town was hit hard by storms.

    - When the artifact was stolen amid the Epulum celebrations, he aided in the investigation despite his inebriation.

    - Since the spring, he is frequently seen riding around Castle Thorne and Nott on bike in his work as a courier.

    - The day the Summoned returned from the Singularity's crater, he and Jack Townsend attempted an experimental bit of magic that resulted in an explosion and may have caught the attention of mages in the library.

    - Lately, he has been sparring with some of the younger castle guards.

    - The night of the coup, he helped a kitchen worker get to safety.

    - In the saferoom, he helped break the wards and convinced Summoned and locals alike to play truth or dare.

    - He skipped Sidwell's coronation and helped fortify Nott's runes. He also took a bike with him in case any messages needed to be delivered fast, as discussed here. (He did stay overnight, but returned to the castle on July 1.)

    Character Name: Jon Snow
    Faction: Thorne
Requested Rank: minimum 3, maybe 4 if you think it's plausible. 3 is definitely good though.

Reasons for Request: For right now, I am mainly looking for Sword Guy to be allowed to carry his sword everywhere in Thorne (I wrote almost all of this up before he got Sword Power, obvs) and also to take the higher level quests. Eventually, getting him to slightly higher influence levels where he can have potential NPC opportunities, possibly diplomatic ones (his priorities would make him a decent fit for those) -- he is the kind of character who is of slightly more use to people around him when he's a little more important than not. But he'll never actually seek to be seen as important, only useful.

Some of these threads are quite old. I wanted to be sure I was submitting something substantial and well-documented. On the IC end, I'd probably cover my OOC inaction by assuming this stuff actually went up over time in the background and he's only just taking advantage of any of it now. It's also likely that not all of these are significant enough to weigh in at all, or that some of the threads are too stubby to count, but that is for you to decide.

I also realize that the regime change may somewhat affect some of this! Only you can decide what Sidwell will think. However, based on the post-Overthrow write up, I feel comfortable at least positing that Sidwell might see Jon as a Summoned who can be relied upon to support and protect the kingdom: many of these threads depict him doing just that.

If you would like to save some time checking the quest threads, he has done every Tier One quest available since May of 2022, and only the May 2022 quest was submitted last time. Sometimes there's other relevant info in those threads, but I've usually noted when that's the case.

    • Has been around for more than two years being polite and helpful and not publicly questioning royal decisions. Would be familiar in various locations around the castle (stables, training yard, hunting and riding in the castle forest, etc). Should be known by at least some people to be employed by some lower ranking nobles as a weapons master for their kids: this means that unless a game event makes it impossible, he's seen on Adamant Row at least three days a week, and more frequently than that after he's missed days due to an event. (He does actual work, but it might be rumored that the main purpose of his employment is that he's decorative.) I've thrown brief mentions of that stuff into a ton of threads, but an easy reference is the first tag here (the Cassian training log in the list below). Probably at least recognizable as someone who doesn't cause trouble, seems relatively trustworthy, tries to learn magic, etc. -- his Lv 1 stuff. Also would be known around town as someone who hangs out with Mat (evident in things linked here).

    • September 2022 quest: put out fires with Mat and Hennessey.

    • Submitted helpful info at the December political conference (told them not to trust Solvunn, which turned out to be a major contribution - this is not a thread, but he did have to submit threads to receive the info that he submitted here); also caught a sacred goose (no thread here; I didn't expect him to win anything!) and publicly overdid it in the slug game (Long Embrace and Ship's Lounge starters, Ship's Lounge thread) in a way (brave/masochistic/dumb) that might have caught the attention of anyone passing through that bar.

    • January 2023 quest! Helped with the beached turtle in Borrel.

    • Participated in investigation, search, and rescue in the cultist event.
      • Investigation 1, Investigation 2.
      • Circulated the info about the sigil goop.
      • Search participation mentioned in the Alicent and Shepard threads at that link.
      • Participated in the endgame search and capture for Josselyn (which afaik wasn't threaded out by players).
      • Many months later, when delivering royal condolences in Nott, his participation in the mountain searches was mentioned here.
      • Side note! As you know, I had tremendous trouble with this event. So much went wrong -- my planned partner was a new player who got intimidated by the format and completely bailed, I was also intimidated and pretty lost, a relative died at the beginning of the event and a friend died suddenly at the end, and I was pretty distraught at the time for all those reasons and dropped several search threads I couldn't handle doing. Because he has threads referencing active searching but not depicting it, and it was a pretty important part of the event, it is possible that his mountain searching efforts may not factor into influence. It would be disappointing but totally understandable -- but I hope you can credit it at least partially!

    • May 2023 quest: helped with the farm field blessings around Nott (with note that he also participated in the royal demo in Nott, mentioned in that thread -- his Castle Thorne influence should be up from that, but he was probably getting some dirty looks in Nott).

    • Rifts event: My gut feeling is that this event probably constitutes a pretty solid basis for a bump in itself, because he went all over Thorne conspicuously fighting creatures in a way that is similar to stuff in canon that gained him a lot of canonical influence. Real-world fights included

    • Fall 2023: hospital entertainment quest with Mat. Willing to make a fool of himself to brighten the day of some injured kids. (This might also have helped his Nott influence.)

    • Nether event: contributed how he could to helping the Draconae with their dragons. Helped gather ingredients with Kyle and Eddie; played with the baby dragons with Lord John Grey.

    • December 2023: a log delivery thread to help Nott, on the TDM, with a character who didn't app at that time. I figured that Jon still might plausibly have done it alone, and mentioned it in the first tag of a game-canon thread, but it's fine if there's no credit for this one.

    • Late December 2023: went to the island to help retrieve dead bodies.

    • January 2024: might have been seen in the training yard with Cassian or in the stables with River, trying to teach each of them.

    • January 2024: Quest to deliver royal condolences with Sansa and Mat. We threaded out at least part of one house visit, but have noted in the setup that they have several more to go to.

    • February 2024: actively participated in the Carnivale event and investigation; dressed appropriately, spoke to several NPCs, stole a butcher's ledger without getting caught (this might not actually be influence since they weren't seen doing it, but they did later present it at the vault), and uncovered important information.

    • Spring 2024: Helped out in Nott (specifically in reply to Rhy's request). First thread link mentions in the opening tag that he's been there a lot in recent weeks (& is ongoing, but well into political chatter).

    • Spring 2024: Has been purchasing a lot of fabric for Sansa: here he is coming in to the castle carrying a parcel of cloth (also, making a fool of himself on one of Kyle's bikes; the only reason he'll ever live this down is that a lot of the witnesses died in the coup I guess....)

    • March 2024: Helped calm horses during the storms (I'm unsure of whether this counts because the other character wasn't accepted; I believe I mentioned it elsewhere in the logs comm as something Jon had been up to, but can't find it right now because horses are mentioned a lot in this game, so searching my inbox is useless, useless! Again, fine if this is not credited.)

    • May 2024: had to sell or give away all the clothes/shoes he had purchased or had made for himself over his time in Thorne (not ones given to him by the Crown -- those, he would have just returned to the general supply area) and hastily purchase/commission a few replacements, due to a change in physical size after the April event. He would have gotten a few of his basic replacements from those provided by the castle, but he would also have commissioned some in a slightly different style from a tailor and also asked Sansa to help him out. While I haven't really been explicit about it in any thread, the factors here are his preference for Northern Westerosi styles that he tries to commission and would have had to describe, contribution to the local economy, blah blah blah -- otherwise, all of his clothes would come from the castle and he wouldn't have reason to buy or sell/donate anything. He probably had a few nice wool overtunics on those lines for cooler seasons and is probably working on a few more, maybe a piece in leather, that kind of thing. Also probably owns mostly Westerosi-style linen shirts.

    • Attended Sidwell's coronation. (I will submit other things from the Overthrow event next time; they're not far enough along right now. Obviously this isn't a thread and doesn't count for much other than how much Jon is currently trusted around the castle.)
